Harbour/Seacoast Community Development Mission
The chamber is hosting a group of 18 people from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency for a site visit from Sunday, October 23rd to Monday, October 24th, 2011. The mission is sponsored by a federal government organization that promotes economic development in the Atlantic Canada region by organizing Tourism Best Practices missions for tourism operators from Atlantic Canada.
Participants travel outside Atlantic Canada to a destination that they consider to have "best practices" within a particular sector of tourism and visit different organizations to see how they are operating. We will be working with our members to coordinate this visit.

Arts 27:
Maine Arts Commission Grant
For the second year, MAC will award two $50,000 grants to communities or regions with a strong commitment to inter-sector collaboration that seeks to strengthen their cultural assets while fostering economic development. The grant and application process encourages cultural, economic and governmental sectors to work together to effect community revitalization.
The chamber is supporting a "grand tour" of Lincoln County for Donna McNeil, the Maine Arts Commission Director, on either Monday, Sept. 26th or Wednesday, Sept 28th, 2011. The aim is two-fold: 1) to show some of our riches - galleries, museums, etc., and 2) to show the partners - people, artists, businesses, chamber and community leaders - who hope to be involved in the grant.
