Garden Talks
1. Tim Bate of Skillin's Nursery wants you to know that our rhododendron bushes are on sale through this weekend for 20% off. We have some beauties here at Skillin's (my personal favorite is the rich red Nova Zembla. I don't own one but that might change soon!). PJM rhodys are fully ablaze in color and soon will be joined by many others. Rhododendrons love growing in Skillin's Country and every landscape should have several!

2. This cold wet weather will bring fungus and mildews to many plants. Use all natural Serenade to protect your plants against many diseases! Keep an eye out for peony wilt and clematis wilt--we recommend all natural copper dust (aka Bordeaux Mixture) as an anti dote for that.
3. Don't like the shape of your flowering forsythia? This is an excellent time to prune your forsythia--while some color still remains. Prune it to somewhat smaller than the shape you want--don't worry it will grow back quickly. Just keep the same proportions so that even growth will result in the shape you want!
4. Mike's Must Have Perennial for the Week is the Creeping Phlox--aka Ground Phlox or Phlox Subulata. Read all about this great plant HERE.
5. This cool weather is an outstanding time to speak to us about planting your patio and pool pots! Container plantings are what we love to do (or certainly help you with if you are a "do it yourselfer")! We know the plants that will bloom all summer and a long, long time into the fall. Pictured below are some awesome plantings we just put together for a customer. Large or small, let us help you out!
