Fruit Trees are Here!

These Fruit Trees Have Just Arrived and Would Love to Come Home with You!!

Hello again,

Welcome to another edition of Garden Talks Online by Skillin's Greenhouses! We have been "online" since 1999 and "on the ground" in Skillin's Country since 1885. We work every day to keep your trust and  realize that in 2011 your time is very precious.

Hey the weather of the last 10 days or more has been downright chilly! Cold--as a matter of fact! But I have to tell you that everyone I am talking to (and that has been many of you thanks to our Open Houses) has been grinning and bearing it! As I say in the title to this piece--we have been "keeping our cool!" Oh not many of us like this cold weather BUT we realize that WARMER days lie ahead! The snow being forecast for Friday--Poor Man's Fertilizer for Skillin's Country! We are "springing ahead" slowly--all the while "keeping our cool"!

As I just noted we have finished our Ten Days of Skillin's Spring Open House celebration and we are SO THANKFUL to all of you who visited us once, twice, three and four or more times at all of our stores over the ten day period. As I have written many times, we do love it when you come in and buy some of our plants or great products. But you know what? Just come see us! Grab a cup of coffee, take your time, look at the color, smell Spring, feel warm but just come see us to say hi. We love plants yes, but we are ALL ABOUT you the people here at Skillin's Greenhouses. We love to see you! Just come and see us!

Many, many thanks as well to our awesome family of staff who have made our stores look the best they have ever looked. People in before 6 AM, people here at 8 PM and all in between; everyone doing their part for a company that can not survive without them. Thanks to all of you!

Yes we are indeed "Springing" forward! And we have an awesome class this weekend called Gardening 101. This time of year is THE BEST time for gardeners. As my Uncle John Skillin used to say, "It's all just in front of us now". And it is!

What better way to celebrate Spring than to talk about some gardening basics that you may be wondering about. We are gardening in Maine; what plants work reliably the best? Why lime my lawn? What fertilizer should I use that is best for my yard but also our planet? I have a budget, how can I stretch my dollars? For 126 springs now we have been answering these and many other gardening questions. Let's talk Gardening 101 and learn. We will emphasize how best to Grow a Greener Garden in your yard. This free class is being offered at 10 AM and 2 PM this Saturday April 2 at all 3 Skillin's locations. (10 AM class is sold out in Falmouth).

Let us show you how to "do it right". Going to this class will save you valuable time and help you get great results!
