North Queen Anne Child Care
August Parent page 2012

Greetings!

If the summer is flying by as fast for you as it is for me, you'll probably be saying "Wow, August...already?"  I feel like each year the time flies by a little bit faster and it inspires me to really cherish each moment and memory.  As we head into August some of you have taken family vacations and some of you are still looking ahead to a get-a-way.  Whether it's camping, the beach, a trip far away, or a stay-cation...we have enjoyed hearing the stories from your children as they return.  If you have photos of your experiences, I would encourage you to post them to our facebook page or e-mail them to me so we can create a photo collage of the summer time fun around NQACC.  In this newsletter you will find an update on our floor project and much more about the summer happenings at our center and what you can look forward to in the Fall.

MARY ANN is heading to India...

Mary Ann Abbott, Chapel Director here at NQACC, and husband Mark are in India for the month of August. They are teaching at South India Bible Seminary, near Bangalore, where Mark's parents taught as missionaries.

Since Mary Ann specializes in early childhood education, she will teach child development, while Mark teaches homiletics. Last January the Abbotts did a similar teaching stint at Hope Africa University in Burundi.

Mary Ann's weekly chapels here will resume in September.

Sincerely,

The Kissing Hand

The Kissing Hand... by Audry Penn is one of my favorite books.   Chester is a raccoon who like most of us doesn't like change. In his case it's starting school.
He wants to stay home with his mama and play with the friends he already has instead of going to school away from her and his friends. So his mama explains to him the magic of the kissing hand. The real magic is the message that we have to do things that scare us sometimes but that the love of our family is always with us to help us through.  This a great book as your preschool child is getting ready to start Kindergarten or if you are a new family to our center.  I read this book to my kids and my 12 year old daughter still has me kiss her hand as she is heading out on a new adventure.

Red Bears are Graduating! Graduation Picnic will be Thursday August 23rd at 6 pm at the Lower Woodland Park Picnic Area.

Parents and children from the Red Bear classroom are invited to come celebrate this send off to kindergarten.

We will miss you Fiona!
Fiona Mackenzie, has worked at NQACC since February of 2011.  Fiona will be moving back down to California to attend Sonoma State University.  She will pursue a certified teaching credential and will also minor in dance.  Her last day with us will be next Thursday, August 9.
