The banquet will highlight the achievements of 35 young ladies in their cultivation of culture, sophistication and education. "This year's five graduates have definitely been through a cultivation process with our program," said Elexia Coleman-Moss, Executive Director of Empowerment Resources, Inc. "They have all participated four years or more, with one of the girls being a participant since the program's inception."

Journey Into Womanhood is a rites of passage program for girls ages 9-17 that focuses on their healthy transition from girl to young woman. It is facilitated by experienced leaders and volunteers who help participants cultivate their self-awareness, develop leadership skills and put them on the path to positively impact the communities in which they live. Throughout the program year, participants engage in enrichment field trips, interactive workshops and community service projects.

Angela Spears is the Public Information Officer for the Nassau County Sheriff's Office and serves as a spokesperson for the agency. She is enjoying a change in careers. Angela spent the last 11 years as an anchor and reporter for First Coast News NBC 12 and ABC 25. She reported for the morning show and anchored the noon show. She sits on the Board of Directors for the St. Andrew's Lighthouse, a hospitality house for transplant and cancer patients and their families. Angela is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
