Elexia Coleman-Moss pictured with Angela Spears, Mistress of Ceremonies | Money was raised and a newly enhanced organizational identity was revealed during the March Cocktails for a Cause at The University Club. Empowerment Resources, Inc. was the center of attention as Angela Spears, Mistress of Ceremonies, shared with all in attendance the difference that the organization is making in the lives of children and families in our community. Guests supported the cause by filling a tip jar with cash or check donations. Nearly $1,000 was raised.
l to r: Icons for Parenting Education Seminars and Coaching, Journey Into Womanhood and Life Skills programs | Not only did guests help raise funds for an empowering cause, they were the first to see and learn about Empowerment Resources' new brand identity. The non-profit has a new logo and three icons representing Journey Into Womanhood™, Life Skills Workshops and Parenting Education Seminars and Coaching programs. Copies of the inaugural brochure were made available to guests to read and share with friends.
The new brand identity was made possible thanks to the generosity of Felicia Wright, chief branding officer of Mygani Design Studio, who adopted Empowerment Resources for one year and provided complimentary creative services. She collaborated with the marketing team on marketing initiatives. "Undergoing the re-branding process was an exciting learning experience. Empowerment Resources is growing and with growth comes change. It was great to see our volunteers work closely with Mygani Design Studios on the entire creative process," said Elexia Coleman-Moss, founder and executive director of Empowerment Resources, Inc. Also, thank you to all who attended Cocktails for Cause and for graciously supporting Empowerment Resources.

A Journey Into Womanhood Alumna
The young ladies of Journey Into Womanhood got a taste of college life on a visit to Tampa in April. The girls toured the campuses of the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa. Students of The National Society of Leadership and Success at UT presented a lecture which emphasized the skills necessary to be a good leader. Not only did the girls learn what it takes to be successful students, but they also enjoyed go-kart rides at Grand Prix Tampa to wrap up the weekend.

Leadership+Self-Esteem+Goal Setting=Life Skills

Leadership 101 and goal setting were the hot topics of discussion at recent Life Skills Workhops for tweens and teens. Twenty-five high school students from the Beaches Habitat Prep Club After School Program put their debating schools to the test as they debated on different leadership styles. While the teens focused on leadership, 25 elementary aged girls from TEAM UP after school program learned about the importance of self. They participated in eight interactive workshops focused on etiquette, manners and self-esteem.
Life Skills Workshops are for students in grades 3rd through 12th to empower them to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well being and equip them with the necessary tools to make positive life decisions. This fee based program ranges from 60 minutes to a half day and can be customized for after school or summer programs, schools and churches.
