School is now in full swing and there's lots going on this fall. It's also the start of the fall school search. We have lots of information about upcoming events and resources to help guide you.Kids at Bridge

Ship it! Family Live-Aboard on the USS Hornet at Alameda Point.  Sleep in original crew bunks and dine in the crew mess hall. Friday.
Cine it! Cine/Club for Teens at the Randall Museum. Friday, 6:30pm. FREE

Jump it! AirFest at House of Air and Crissy Field. This is the place to jump, jump, jump! Saturday, noon- 6pm.

Clean it! International Coastal Cleanup Day. Teach your kids to value our oceans and help top last year's total by cleaning up a beach near your family. Saturday.
Argh it! Pirate Book Making at Bernal Heights Branch Library. For children 6 and up. Saturday.

Book it! Pop-Up Book Workshop at Paxton Gate's Curiosities for Kids. Recommended Age: Kids 11 and under. Saturday.
Three Musketeer it! Cardboard Tube Duel and Costume Contest at Hayes Valley Farm. Saturday, 11am.

School it! Public and Parochial High School School Fair at Lick Wilmerding HS. Visit about 20 high schools from around the City. Sunday.
Bike it! Sunday Streets: Chinatown and North Beach. Play along Grant Avenue from the Chinatown Gates at Bush to Coit Tower in North Beach. Sunday.

Preschool Prevew Night

Preschool Preview Night 
Thursday, September 21st
5:30-8pm
San Francisco County Fair Building (Hall of Flowers) at the 9th and Lincoln entrance to Golden Gate Park.

At Preschool Preview Night you will have an opportunity to speak one-on-one with San Francisco's top preschool providers and learn more about the rich array of options available for your little ones. Birth & Baby Fair

Birth & Baby Fair

General Admission is $8 for one ticket. Children 18 and under are free.

 

If you're expecting a baby the Birth and Baby Fair is the place to be.  The fair features local businesses and resources as well as independent designers with the aim to educate and expose new & expecting parents and young families to unique & beneficial products & services.

Yikes! We know, school just started, but the fall school search is just around the corner.

 

SFUSD has a great website "Discover, Apply, Enroll" that provides some great tools for finding a school.  
-- Also check the main SFUSD Educational Placement Center webpages.

GreatSchools.net has a great Guide to Choosing the Right School as well as many other valuable articles.

 

Parents for Public Schools SF also has a great school checklist, see their School Tours Page and their Calendar for listings of enrollment events.

San Francisco 4H

4H San Francisco 

San Francisco is now very lucky to have its own 4-H club.  Just like in 4-H clubs in other parts of the U.S., kids in San Francisco's Urban 4-H club participate in project-based learning. Whether it is through gardening and urban farming, caring for and raising animals, environmental science, or creative arts, kids get hands-on experience learning about the world around them.  For more information contact sfurban4h@gmail.com.

CCSF Parenting Series 

City College of San Francisco has just announced a great parenting series running this fall.  Sponsored by the Child Development & Family Studies Dept. at City College of San Francisco.  Classes are Open to All Parents and Free of Charge. All classes take place at the City College Ocean Avenue Campus Multi-Use Building (MUB) Room 255 at 7:00 p.m.
