Happy New Year from SFkids.org.  We hope 2011 is a great year for your family.

flying babyAs usual, San Francisco is full of things to do this month. This month's newsletter has some great articles about food adventures in Bernal Heights, why exercise is important for all of us, and some great, unique classes for your kids this winter and spring.

We love to hear from other parents with ideas about kid-friendly restaurants, activities, and more. We're also always looking for people to write feature articles.  If you have something you'd like to submit, we'd love to hear from you.

Child Observation Classes

Child Observation ClassesOne of the great hidden secrets of San Francisco "parents-in-the-know" is the CCSF Child Observation classes. Run by child development experts, the classes offer an opportunity to get out of the house, have your child engage in important small and large motor skills, play games, socialize, and have the opportunity to ask an expert parenting questions.

Many of the classes are in a new facility at City College and some are still at neighborhood sites around the City.

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Remember Martin Luther King, Jr. and teach your children about his great work.

The Dumb Jock Myth

by Christine Carter, Ph.D.

Like 44 percent of the population, I will make New Year's Resolutions this year, and I'm starting to think about them already.  As we celebrate Thanksgiving and Hanukah and Christmas-holidays all accompanied by special foods and big meals, often with more cheese and sweets than I ingest in January through October combined-I know that one of my resolutions is going to be to get back into a regular exercise regimen. (read more...)
