For many of us Spring Break is in full swing. We have lots of ideas about how you can spend some quality time with your kids, either in or out of town.
Most of us are also feverishly planning for summer ---camps, vacations, summer jobs, weekend getaways and more. Hope you find some ideas on SFkids.org and if you have some ideas to share with us, we'd love to hear from you.

Camps, Camps, and More Camps! |
SFkids.org has the most comprehensive list of camps around.
SF Rec & Park Summer Camp Registration UpdateRegistration for most summer camps started on March 21st but there are still spots available in some camps. You can browse the available programs at sfRecOnline.org.
New Camps Added! Rec & Park has just added new Neighborhood Day Camps (formerly summer latchkey) at thirteen parks. Online registration on sfRecOnline.org starts 10am on Saturday, April 11, 2009. Walk-in registration is from 10am-3pm on April 11th at McLaren Lodge.

The School Search |
If you were patiently waiting to find out where your kids would be going to kindergareten, middle school, high school, or college, you proabably have your anwser now. Parents for Public Schools SF has a great guide Round II Dates & Tips if you filed an appeal.
Need Afterschool? Don't forget that SFkids.org now has an online afterschool program database (keep in mind, however, that the information listed is for the current school year and programs may change for next year).

Dates Include:
Sunday, April 26: Waterfront Route running along the Embarcadero--from AT&T Park to Aquatic Park. Sunday, May 10: Waterfront Route in the Southeast Sector, highlighting the San Francisco Bay Trail, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in May. From AT&T Park to the Bayview Opera House, along the Bay. Sunday, June 7 & Sunday July 19: New route for 2009 through the Mission, engaging new neighborhoods in the Sunday Streets movement.
Sunday, August 9 & Sunday Sept. 6: Great Highway Route. Connecting Golden Gate Park to the San Francisco Zoo, along Ocean Beach. |

First 5 Parent Action Grants |
 Parent ACTION is a small grant program that aims to develop parent leadership through a gradual process, promote awareness on parent-child interactions and child development, and build community with parent led efforts. Grants are for either for organizations (such as preschools, an elementary school's kindergarten classroom, community based organizations, Rec. and Park sites, churches, etc.) that are interested in forming and/or maintaining parent groups and helping parents develop their own leadership skills or for individual parent groups.

Week of the Young Child, April 17-26 |
 The Week of the Young Child focuses public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. Many free activities are taking place, download a flyer with information in Spanish and Chinese as well as in English.
Events include:
"See Me" Festival for Young Children, May 3rd
11am - 3pm Civic Center PlazaLarkin between McAllister & Grove Sts.
Jumpers, puppet shows, arts and crafts, dance performers, and sing-alongs are but a few of the activities for children and their families. Parents, learn about resources and services for you and your family. English, Spanish and Chinese resources provided.
