May 1 - May 26, 2012Beautiful Beasts: The Search for Identity
Paintings by Mark Loebach
Artist Mark Loebach's current series of wrestling bodies, "Beautiful Beasts," explore the pursuit of understanding the self by attempting to break thru layers to our identity. Visually documenting those waring phases of passage, these paintings ask the question -
Can we ever know who we truly are?
A collection of large-scale paintings of bodies in motion, part time-lapse part cross-section, "Beautiful Beasts" reveals both the bold tensions and the subtle encounters created during the evolution of the self.
Originally from Pittsburgh PA, Mark Loebach is a self-taught artist that currently resides in Louisville CO. We welcome him back to Pittsburgh for the public reception of "Beautiful Beasts" on Saturday, May 5th! Exhibition Images! Available Work!
