Box Heart's 2012 Artist of the Year
NADIM SABELLA

Pittsburgh, PA - January 27, 2012 - Last year, German born artist Nadim Sabella was Box Heart Gallery's 2011 Art Inter/National Best of Show recipient for his photographic works, "In a Fog," where he constructed then submerged miniature models of the San Francisco Bay area in water to capture the nature of contemporary environmentalism. It is with great pleasure that we begin this exhibition year with our 2012 Artist of the Year: Nadim Sabella and his debut exhibition in Pittsburgh, "Little Disasters."

Photography, Miniatures, and Stop Motion Video by:
Nadim Sabella
Box Heart's 2012 Artist of the Year

Combining model-making with photography, Sabella creates photographs that transform familiar places into strange and mysterious landscapes. Though the imagery is informed by real places and events, the work itself does not claim any scientific truth. What comes to surface in the murky waters is the reflection of our cultural downfall. Sabella's artwork is a rumination on constant change, instability, and man's inability to control the elements. Sabella's exhibit, "Little Disasters," will run from February 7th - March 3rd 2012 at Box Heart Gallery.
