The Pasta Times
|
February 2010
|
|
Dear friends,
After an inspiring and engaging 2-day retreat in January, our
entire Ciclismo Team is pumped up and ready to roll for 2010. We
emerged refreshed and with many new ideas as well as solidifying
Ciclismo Classico's purpose and mission: To engage, inspire and
transform people of all ages and abilities to embrace cycling as a way
of life and as a means to experiencing personal growth and
fulfillment. We do this by offering the most magical, educational and
fun cultural experiences led by expert native guides in the world's
premier cycling destinations. At the retreat our team celebrated over
20 years of Italian expertise and cheered Ciclismo Classico's
dedication and passion for cycling as a lifestyle that perfectly
combines travel, health, fitness, and sustainability.
In a
challenging economic year, our team recognized and reaffirmed that our
invigorating vacations not only enhance our guest's health and make
their soul soar but that a Ciclismo Classico vacation experience is
more important now than every before. In a world
that is increasingly aware of environmental sustainability, health,
fitness and personal transformation, a bicycle tour with Ciclismo
Classico goes beyond the surface of a destination and gives each every
person an opportunity to experience passionate connections to people
and places.
Which leads me to February, the month of Amore. We
dedicate this Pasta Times to Pedaling Passion and how both our guests
and our Ciclismo guides experience this passion through tandem riding,
the ultimate expression of togetherness. We are also launching our
video contest and first ever Ciclismo Classico bicycle film festival by
inviting anyone who has dabbled with a video camera on a Ciclismo
Classico tour to share their creation. The winning filmmaker will be
awarded a FREE Ciclismo Classico trip! Finally, we feel compelled to do
what we can to help out in Haiti so for the month of February we will
be donating a portion of every tour to our neighbors that are in such
desperate need. If you are considering signing up for a Ciclismo tour,
this is the month to register for we will donate 5% of every February
deposit to Doctors Without Borders. Through cycling we can all make
our world a better place!

Big Changes for the Pasta Times!
If you're accustomed to receiving the Pasta Times, you'll notice some
differences with this issue. This is just the tip of the iceberg! There
are lots more exciting changes to come in our newsletter (and to our
website - but that's a topic for another time!) Here are a few of the
big improvements that you'll notice over the coming weeks: The
main newsletter is now monthly, with lots of fun and informative
features about our guests, guides, destinations, and the stuff that -
as members of the greater Ciclismo community - we're all passionate
about
We have a cleaner design, so the articles are more readable
Most articles are summarized in the e-newsletter, with links to full stories on our website
We
will supplement the monthly newsletter with weekly "quick release"
messages with reminders about upcoming events and promos, links, and a
feature on one of our trips We'd love to hear what you think about these changes (and anything else, for that matter!). If you have any suggestions for articles, comments about the design, or any other thoughts, please contact andrew@ciclismoclassico.com.

... of a Ciclismo Bicycle Built for Two!
Each year, our stable of Canondale tandems is increasingly popular
with our guests who prefer a bicycle built for two. We're pleased to
announce that for the 2010 season, we'll be introducing at least one
new tandem from Co-motion, one of the leading tandem companies in the
world. It will be a peppy performance bike, with 700c wheels and
dropped bars. We chose Co-motion because if it's stellar rep (which is
fueled by Ciclismo founder Lauren - her family loves theirs!), but also
because the Periscope line is incredibly adjustable to fit just about
any couple.
Since February is Valentine's month, we thought this
would be a great opportunity to share the perspectives of two couples
who love riding their tandems together. First we have Ciclismo alumni
Bob and Sandy Berg (who also shares her wonderful transformation story
here), then we have Ciclismo guides Beppe Salerno and Milena Bettocchi.
