Due to a desperate need to change the way we care for terminally ill children, we are expanding to build Kristie's Place; the first children's end-of-life care facility in Southern California. We did not feel that Wishland was an appropriate name for an end-of-life facility so our BOD decided to change our name to Kristie's Foundation. Our programs have not changed, just our name. We will continue to provide our wish-assist program, our Family Support program, and our Kids Club.  Visit our website for more information on Kristie's Place!

May 3, Avia OC Marathon: Kristie's Foundation is a Charity Partner for the Avia OC Marathon. Come have fun and help raise funds for Kristie's Place by running or walking with a friend or a team. If you prefer, you can help by sponsoring a runner or by volunteering.

BUTTERFLY RELEASE:  A highlight of our Family Festival Event! Last year we released over 500 gorgeous butterflies in memory of the children we have lost and to honor those still battling illnesses. Buy a butterfly on our website for a $10 donation and allow one of Kristie's Kids to release it for you. Or, you can come to the event and release yours during this beautiful tribute. Buy one as a gift and the recipient will receive a beautiful butterfly card to commemorate the donation.

 
Our San Diego chapter is having its first fundraiser on March 28th at the Images of Nature Gallery in La Jolla, CA.  The evening will include a wine and cheese party, entertainment and a silent auction.  For tickets and information, please call our office at 714-408-9781.

Kristie's welcomes Amy Akdeniz as our Family Support Coordinator of San Diego. Amy is a parent who recently lost her precious daughter, and understands the challenges that face these children and their families. Holiday Giving: An abundance of warmth and generosity is the only way to describe the holidays for Kristie's. 
Thanksgiving, a new program for Kristie's this year thanks to the staff, faculty and families of Oakridge Private school in Villa Park.
Kristie's Foundation families that needed some extra help this holiday were given a bountiful Thanksgiving feast for their families.

Christmastime: While most people are celebrating the holidays with family and friends, the families of Krisite's are preparing for what could be their last Christmas with their child. For our families, holidays can be quite difficult. For the past four years, Kristie's families have been matchedwith some very generous sponsors. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors who shopped from a wish list, wrapped and delivered an overwhelming amount of gifts to our offices.  Our families were able to enjoy a very special Christmas, complete with a holiday meal, stockings, and gifts for everyone.  Our amazing volunteers worked with one parent from each family to sneak the gifts into the home for the family to enjoy on Christmas morning.

Angels Christmas Party: Kristie's sends a giant Thank You! to the Angels baseball team for hosting the annual children's holiday party Dec. 16. Families of Kristie's Foundation were welcomed into the Home Plate Club at Angel Stadium for a private party with some of their favorite players, including John Lackey, Jered Weaver and Mike Scioscia.
Kids enjoyed a story read by players and management, a ballpark meal, cookie decorating, toys and of course, autographs and photos with the players.

With the state of the economy, we are experiencing a significant drop in grants and corporate support. We desperately need monetary donations to help keep our programs running. Please consider monthly giving (any amount will help), participating in one of our fundraisers or hosting one of your own.
