gratitude journal
THE GRATITUDE JOURNAL
It didn't take very long after we lost power during  Hurricane Irene and again most recently after the very powerful October storm to realize how we take the most simple things in life like running water, heat and electricity for granted. I am sure that anyone who ever experienced the inconvenience of a power failure is reminded of this as well. But once the problem resolves and we return to our normal everyday lives, we can quickly lose appreciation for what we take for granted.

I will bet that most of us can sit right down at any given moment and think of things to be grateful for. We are prompted always to "see the glass half full" and encouraged to "count our blessings". But knowing what we are grateful for and feeling grateful are two different things. The Universal Life Force is responding accordingly to our vibrational resonance, and the vibration of gratitude is one of the strongest positive frequencies that we can emit. We are always self-creating. When we focus our consciousness on the feeling of gratitude, we begin to weave peace into our very cells. This isn't some off the wall theory, but based on research that comes from the fields of positive psychology and mind-body science.

Do you want to attract better things to yourself? Start a Gratitude Journal. The practice of keeping a daily gratitude journal is one of the easiest ways to change your vibration and thus enhance your life. It's an inexpensive practice, all you need is a notebook and 5 minutes a day tops. Find a time that works best, and write down 5 things a day that you are grateful for. Some days this task will be easy and you will be inclined to write down more than 5, and that is fine! Other days you may struggle finding anything to feel grateful for. On those days, be persistent. You will find five. Doing this on a daily basis is the key.

I can guarantee, because I have done this in my own life, that your energy will shift, and your life experience will be different as you start to draw to yourself people places and events that will match your grateful vibration.

"Be thankful for what you have; you"ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you do not have, you will never, ever have enough". ~Oprah Winfrey

salt THE SODIUM PROBLEM
It is always better to prevent chronic illness rather  than to have it evolve because of our lifestyle and food choices.
People who read food labels seem to be overly concerned with fat which (unless the fat is a trans-fat ) really isn't as much of a food culprit as sugar, which is usually added in order to improve the taste of low fat selections.

While decreasing overall sugar intake is a really good thing for everyone to do there is another food culprit that will certainly lead to things like heart and kidney disease if not monitored and reduced, and that is sodium. When people think of sodium they think of table salt. but nowadays you don't have to shake on your salt anymore. The fast-food and processed food industries offer a staggering supply of sodium laden foods. Although sodium plays a vital role in the body in proper amounts, too much of it can retain water increase blood volume causing the heart to have to work harder, increasing arterial pressure which over time can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and congestive failure. If you want to ensure that you stay healthy it is imperative that you become aware of the amount of sodium in what you eat.

There is a lot of sodium in not only things that are obvious like chips and crackers, but in bread, canned vegetables and soups and frozen prepared foods. Condiments like ketchup and marinades and salad dressings loaded with sodium. So are cheese and cold cuts. And of course all fast food and restaurant food as well. The average American is taking in at least 3,500 mg or more of sodium on a daily basis, far more than the Recommended Daily Allowance which is 2400 mg daily for those under 51 and 1,500 mg for those over 51 or with high blood pressure, diabetes or kidney disease. Keeping a sodium intake of 1000-1500 mg a day requires a lot of scrutiny, but it can be done.

Potassium and sodium work together in the body to maintain a proper cellular fluid balance via the sodium-potassium "pump". Sodium and potassium work inversely together to help the cells work properly. So in addition to keeping sodium intake low, it is equally important to eat potassium rich foods as well. Low sodium and high potassium foods include bananas, oranges, avocados, cantaloupe, dates and figs, lima beans, lentils, and potatoes with the skin. So are unsalted almonds, pecan and walnuts and most fruits and vegetables in their natural state.

Today supermarkets have areas for gluten free food, but as of now you have to hunt for low sodium foods. They are out there but you have to learn how to read food labels carefully. Dr. Richard D. Moore's book, Natural Prevention and Cure with the K Factor is an excellent source of information of how you can prevent strokes and heart and renal disease with this dietary approach. A low sodium diet takes some getting used to but once you can learn to appreciate the natural flavors of unprocessed and unrefined food you will enjoy eating it. And isn't it really is far better to prevent a mess than to have to clean one up?

WHY I  LOVE WHAT I DO
A few days ago I received the following email:

"One night about seven months ago I was at the class you had at Northboro Chiropractic and when you did the EFT for cravings I visualized the Coca-Cola I had drank for the past 40 years EVERY DAY! I just wanted you to know that I have not had one sip of any sugary drink since that night and I rarely have any sweets. I think that is amazing!"

EFT has the power to cause life changing shifts and I feel blessed to be able to bridge people to something that can create positive change in their lives. If you are ready to make a positive change in your life and want to explore the use of EFT call me. Remember that EFT sessions can be conducted over the phone.  EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine.

tina 1"It is my passion and desire to contribute to the betterment of the world by spreading the message that a state of well being is for everyone. No matter how old you are, or what stage you are in, or what you have been through, I believe that you can find your way back to the Wholeness that was always your birthright.  We are born magnificent beings but get conditioned into mediocrity. It is up to you to pick up the map to find your way back. And I'll help you anyway I can. "If you want to know the quality of what you radiate, just observe how people respond to you. They are your mirror." Gary Craig.

Have a great month!
