How do you Spend Your Energy?
Let's suppose someone gives you $100 at the start of your day, and it is up to you how you spend it. If you blow right through it, wildly and unwittingly tossing it in every direction, it won't be long before the money is gone, leaving you broke. If you are careful not to spend it foolishly, and are thoughtful about your spending decisions, you might be pleased to find that at the end of the day there is a surplus that you can carry over. Now imagine applying this to your energy. Imagine that every day you are given 100 units of pure positive energy, and it's up to you to decide how you spend it.
Since we are all energy we do in fact have a supply of energy with which we direct the flow of our life. The question is, how do you spend yours? Let's go back to the 100 units. You wake up with 100 units, and you immediately start complaining about all that you have to do...there goes 5 units. Your commute in to work is heavy or the kids are struggling to get off to school causing you to get upset, there goes another 5 units. At work there is lots of stress... that's good for at least 10 units out the window. Perhaps you have lost your job and you spend your day in worry and fear.....lots of energy spent. Fight with the spouse? 20 units. Worry about your kid? Watching the bad news on TV? Bitterness resentment or judgement of others? There it goes.... With each round of negativity out goes more of your good energy. It is easy to understand from this perspective how at the end of the day we are left feeling depleted and exhausted before we plop into bed preparing to do it again the next day.
As we expand our awareness of our energy system we begin to better understand that we leak energy every time we're in emotional discord. We can learn how to take back our energy, or our power when we consciously decide to not so readily hand it over to the people places and situations that ruffle us. Many of us learned at an early age beliefs about ourselves and others that as adults still cause us to hand our power off. Done repeatedly, this leads to feeling disempowered, which is not a great feeling. The great news is that all this can change. The work involves identifying the limiting beliefs that are operating in the subconscious, eliminating them and installing new and improved beliefs.
Those of you who know me know how passionate I am about helping others restore emotional balance using a Meridian Tapping Technique called EFT. I love this easy self-help tool because it works fast to "rewire" the electrical system so to speak, leaving you feeling lighter, easier and able to let go of the negative thoughts that keep you stuck. Consider some individual EFT sessions, or perhaps attend my next EFT workshop (details below). How do you spend your energy? It's all up to you!

Acetaminophen Alert Last month, The U.S. News & World Report reported that the FDA has recommended lowering the maximum dose of over the counter acetaminophen - the key ingredient in Tylenol. But wait... Isn't Tylenol the medication "doctors trust most"? The report found that severe liver damage and even death can result from a "lack of consumer awareness that acetaminophen can cause such injury".
I never knew about the dangers of acetaminophen until working as a psychiatric nurse and witnessing the terrible havoc it wreaked following intentional overdoses on the drug. After seeing the liver damage that occurred in young teenage girls who often found Tylenol so readily available, I came to understand just how toxic it was. Prior to that I always felt it was safe, except for the time it was "tampered with" back in the 80's. It was certainly marketed to be just that.
Acetaminophen is found in more than 200 over the counter cold and flu preparations making it the most widely used painkiller in the US. It is also an ingredient in many prescription pain medications as well such as Percocet and Vicodan. The fact is, you can have liver damage just from taking Tylenol at the recommended doses. (example: 8 extra-strength Tylenol daily for a couple of weeks) Excessive acetaminophen overloads the liver and causes damage by depleting glutathione, an important antioxidant that protects cells from toxins. Interestingly enough the protocol for Tylenol poisoning is the administration of N-acetyl cystine which is the nutrient for the formation of intracellular glutathione. It is recommended that if you do take acetaminophen on a regular ongoing basis, you may want to consider adding the supplement glutathione.
Remember that all drugs have side effects. Like with food, seek to understand what is in any drug you take as well. And remember, just because something is purchased without a prescription and over the counter, it does not mean it is necessarily safe.

The Thyroid: Your Internal Thermostat Although it weighs only 1.5 oz and secretes only about a teaspoon of thyroid hormone in the course of a year, your thyroid gland is responsible for driving the metabolic rate of every one of the trillions of cells in your body 24/7. It works by secreting two hormones that control how quickly the body burns calories and uses energy. Even slight variations in its functioning can have significant effects on how you feel. The thyroid can be overactive (causing hyperthyroidism) or underactive (causing hypothyroidism). Of these two, hypothyroidism is more common. The symptoms, which include fatigue, depression, insomnia, anxiety, weight gain and brain fog, can often be misdiagnosed and treated with other remedies that include therapy and antidepressant medications. That is why It is so important if you are experiencing these type of symptoms to make sure you have your thyroid checked to ensure it is functioning normally. A simple blood test ordered by your doctor can diagnose thyroid illness.
According to Phyllis Balch who wrote "Prescription for Natural Healing" there are over 13 million people in the United States diagnosed with hypothyroidism and 90% of them are women. Women between the ages of 30 and 50 seem most prone to developing it.The thyroid can be affected by poor diet, fluoride in the water, excessive consumption of unsaturated fats, endurance exercise, pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables, radiation from x-rays, alcohol and drugs.
Iodine is an important chemical that makes up the thyroid hormone thyroxine. Iodine rich foods include seafood, shellfish and organic vegetables. Other nutritional considerations include avoiding certain foods that depress thyroid activity such as broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach and mustard greens. Also it is important to avoid refined foods, sugar, dairy products, wheat, caffeine and alcohol. Essential fatty acids are anti-inflammatory and necessary for hormone production. A good suggestion is to take 1000 to 1500 mg. of flaxseed oil up to three times a day or a high quality fish oil like Moxxor.
There is a very simple way you can perform a check on yourself to detect for any physical abnormality of your thyroid gland. To learn more on how to perform this important "neck check" click here.

THE BERRY BEST YOGURT Summertime is the best time to enjoy fresh fruit from your local market. Fresh picked berries are one of the easiest ways to increase your antioxidant intake. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries are delicious and do not have the same capacity to spike the blood sugar as do other fruits like oranges and bananas. Although sweet, the seeds and fiber in the berries serve to slow down their absorption into the bloodstream.
Most of the yogurt you see at the grocery store is processed and often filled with additional sugar or fruit jelly or chemicals in the form of artificial flavorings. Yogurt labeled "lo-fat" unfortunately has even more sugar added (to make up for the loss of flavor from the fat removal). Many "light" versions of yogurt have the sugar removed, but then aspartame and sucrolose are added. (Both artificial sweeteners actually cause weight gain despite having no calories.) It is far more important to read the ingredients in your food than to concentrate on how many calories are in each serving.
A good alternative choice is to look for greek yogurt, and buy it plain. If you are concerned about fat content, you can get a reduced fat version. The ingredients should be limited to "milk, cream and live cultures". Top off the yogurt with the fresh picked berries. Not sweet enough? Try sprinkling on a bit of stevia sweetener, or a bit of fresh grated coconut.

"ELIMINATE SELF-SABOTAGE ON YOUR WAY TO A HEALTHIER YOU"
Learn how to use EFT to eliminate the resistance that keep you from reaching your goal.
Are there habits things you want to change in order to be healthier? Have you tried to make changes and found it to be difficult? Do you revert back quickly to old ways? Will power often seems lacking when it comes to being able to stick to a plan to lose the weight, quit the bad habit, exercise more. Don't feel guilty and think you're a failure. Perhaps it's because you have not yet identified the "resistance" to letting go of what is keeping you anchored to what you want to change! Crazy as it sounds, most of the time there is a "downside" to change that creates the need for the subconscious mind to create SABOTAGE. When sabotage is happening you wind up blocking your own success.
In this 4 hour interactive and experiential workshop you will learn EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) a self-help stress reducing meridian tapping technique to begin to identify and eliminate your resistance to change. Then and only then will you be on your way to the healthier version of you.
This workshop will be held on Saturday, August 22 at Tom's Gourmet Marketplace 4 West Main Street Northborough, MA 1 PM to 5 PM Cost: $49.00

It is my passion and desire to contribute to the betterment of the world by spreading the message that a state of well being is for everyone. No matter how old you are, or what stage you are in, or what you have been through, I believe that you can find your way back to the Wholeness that was always your birthright. We are born magnificent beings but get conditioned into mediocrity. It is up to you to pick up the map to find your way back. And I'll help you anyway I can. "If you want to know the quality of what you radiate, just observe how people respond to you. They are your mirror." Gary Craig.
Have a great month! ~Tina
