universal energy
Tapping into our Energy
The Western world pays little attention to the laws of inner energy. When we think of energy, we immediately think about energy resources, like electricity or gas, things outside of us, ignoring the energy within. As we go about living our lives we don't always remember that every thought, every feeling, every action is an expenditure of energy. Whether we are creating new thoughts, or hanging onto old ones, they all require a tremendous expenditure of energy. What is energy and where does it come from?

It's been called many names. In Chinese medicine, it's referred to as Chi. In yoga it is called Shakti. In the West, we call it Spirit. From the time we draw our first breath to the time we exhale our last, Universal energy coarses through us and sustains us throughout our life cycle. Sometimes our energy is very good, and we feel like we are in the flow of life. There are other times when we are down and depressed, where we feel stuck and out of sorts. Energy can shift quickly. Think back to a situation where you felt down about something causing you to feel a lack of energy, and then you got some unexpected good news which reignited your energy and in a matter of seconds you were up and running again. How can energy shift so quickly, what can we do to make sure we are drawing upon the Universal Source of this energy more often?

Universal Energy, like a giant reservoir, is always available to us and can be drawn upon at any time. The only reason we are not flowing freely with energy is because we are blocking it. We block it by closing our heart and our mind and keeping ourselves living in a restricted space. When we consciously open the valve and allow in the energy, we feel like we can take on the world.

Our fourth chakra being our heart chakra is our energy center, and it can open or close according to our direction. Open heart, energy flows in. Closed heart, we block energy and feel a disturbance. Energy is our birthright and it is unlimited, and has nothing to do with age. The more we come from heart centered emotions like love, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude and compassion the more we fill ourselves with unlimited flowing energy. This is why people like Mother Theresa worked unrelentingly and never tired. As long as we stay inspired and work from our passion, we ensure a continual flow of live giving and life sustaining energy.

Sometimes it is not easy to move from a negative emotion to a positive emotion because there may be disruptions within our energy system that were a result of old hurts and emotional injuries. It may at times be easier said than done to just "release and let go..." In this case, the use of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) would be a wonderful way to assist the energy system on it's path to releasing these negative feelings and emotions. cooking oil Know your Fats: Polyunsaturated
The main difference between a monosaturated fat and a polyunsaturated fat is in their molecular structure. Mono fats are linked by one molecular bond, polys are linked by many. Multiple bonds are highly unstable, and contribute to oxidative stress and free radical damage, the precursors to most chronic disease. Poly fats are especially volatile with any kind of processing, even when exposed to light, moisture, air or heat. Since oils like soybean, canola and corn are used extensively in cooking, understand that when you cook with these oils, you virtually unleash free radicals that wreak havoc in the body. Restaurants use these cheap oils extensively and people mistakenly think "healthy" when they hear "cooked in vegetable oil".

The clear and odorless oils you see on grocery shelves have been bleached and deodorized after being put through high heat processing. They are simply industrialized oils and contribute to the development of chronic disease. Being high in Omega 6 fatty acids, poly oils can crowd out the very important and health promoting Omega 3 fatty acids. Most processed and or fast food is loaded with Omega 6 fatty acids. Isn't it interesting how the increase in heart disease correlates with the discontinuation of monosaturated fats and the introduction of polyunsaturated fats into the American diet? Prior to the 20th century when people consumed butter, coconut oil and palm oil, there was virtually no heart disease. But because the modern oils like corn and canola oil were cheaper to manufacture, they were touted as "safe and healthy" and began to replace the monos who were given a bad rap.

Remember that all oils become rancid when exposed to light air and heat. It is best to store any oil and oil based food in the fridge or freezer, and this includes nuts and even vitamins that have an oil base, like Vitamin E or fish oil. If you do want to cook with oil, try to use oils that can withstand the heating process, like peanut or coconut oil.  Buy any oil organic and cold pressed and in darker containers. bottled waterBottled Water: The Biggest Scam
You see cases of them in every store. In an effort to stay hydrated, people are chugging down enormous amounts of bottled water. They mistakenly think they are doing their body good. I used to think that way myself, until I became educated to the truth about water! Not being a soda drinker, I consumed a lot of the bottled water that I assumed was good for me. Let me share some facts about bottled water with you.
  • A four year study released by the Natural Resources Defense Council found that one third of the bottled water tested contained synthetic chemicals and bacteria. Bottled water can also contain fluoride and chlorine.
  • Up to 40% of bottled water is actually just bottled tap water that may or may not receive additional treatment and filtering.
  • Buying bottled water is expensive - it's estimated  $1.50 bottle of water only costs $0.22, leaving $1.28 per bottle in profits.
  • The typical plastic used for bottled water is polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) which can potentially leach into the water.
  • An estimated 50 billion plastic bottles are produced yearly, placing an enormous strain on the environment as they end up in landfills.
  • The EPA regulates public water but has no authority over bottled water. In fact, there are not any specific requirements regarding proximity of bottled water sources to industrial facilities or waste dumps.
  • Most of the popular brands of bottled water test acidic, in many cases as acidic as soda! (you can test your own with pH drops)
  • Bottled water is oxidative and contributes to free radical damage which contributes to premature aging.
Can the bottled water you drink be contributing to health problems? Because there are so many unknowns, too many potential risks and unknown consequences, finding a different source of water might be a great idea if you want to retain good health for as long as you can. Understand that although all water looks the same, it absolutely is not. Tap is not a great idea either (who know what is lurking inside), RO (Reverse Osmosis) is clean but devoid of all minerals. After I became educated to water, I did my homework and I decided to invest in a Kangen Water system so the water my family and I will drink for the rest of our lives is not only clean, but highly ionized and alkaline and therefore health promoting as well. We've said good-bye for good to bottled water, and you can too. Click here to read more about the Kangen Water system.

toothsoap TOOTHSOAP
Last year someone I met at a conference asked me if I had ever heard of Toothsoap. I had not but because of her avid recommendation decided to look it up one day. I recently had a chance to learn about this fascinating natural product that cleans teeth far better than any toothpaste out there. Although I gave up fluoride containing toothpaste a few years ago, little did I know about other ingredients in toothpaste that actually contribute to dental problems! Take glycerin for example. Glycerin actually coats the teeth and prevents enamelization. Good strong enamel is what keeps the tooth from developing cavities. Glycerin is hard to remove needing about 20 rinses to get it off. Other ingredients in toothpastes include fluoride, silicates (sand), chalk, sugar, acid, dyes, stabilizers and mixing agents. These chemicals can contaminate the teeth and also prevent enamelizaton. Abrasives in toothpastes can actually remove more enamel. The re-enamelization process is an important way to reduce plaque buildup and prevent cavities.

Toothsoap is an all natural liquid soap and a wonderful alternative to abrasive toothpaste. Use your abrasive toothpaste to scrub your sink, but don't wear down the enamel of your teeth with it. Toothsoap is made from "saponified organic extra virgin olive oil, coconut and palm oils, distilled water and pure essential oils". It does not coat the teeth and rinses off perfectly, leaving your teeth clean and smooth like porcelain. Because you only need a few drops of Toothsoap to clean your teeth, one two-ounce bottle lasts for months, making it cost effective to use. Don't wait as long as I did to do research for yourself on this delightful healthy product. If you order it, you get a little book titled, "The Perfect Prescription for your Teeth: Three Simple Steps to Perfect Teeth and Gums All the Days of your Life" by K. "V" Van Cleef.
