Janesville Blended Learning Cohort

Description: In this nine week course teachers will participate as online students using various tools in Moodle (i.e. discussion boards, online glossary, online assessments, blogs, wikis, uploading of documents). Teachers will also set up your own hybrid course in Moodle. The purpose of the course is to supplement teaching you already do face-to-face and create a learning environment where students can continue to learn beyond classroom walls.

Course Start Date: February 1st full day face-to-face day the remainder of the course is online. Janesville may also host two optional face-to-face days for onsite support.

Registration Fee: $300

Participants can also receive three graduate credits for $330 through Viterbo University. Participants who successfully complete the course can receive a certificate of completion that meets the WI Requirements for teaching online.

 

 

Teaching & Learning in Online Environments

 

Description:  In this course you will examine and experience differences in an online environment as compared to a face-to-face classroom. Emphasis will be placed on how to establish, encourage, and maintain communication and discourse as a critical component of online learning. Ethical, practical, philosophical, temporal, and organizational considerations to facilitating learning online will be addressed as you plan your own online course! This course is not platform specific and is appropriate for anyone wanting to learn more about effective practices for online instruction.

 

Course Start Date: February 6th

 

Registration Fees: 

  • 8 Week Non-Credit Option $406.23.
  • 8 Week Two Credit Option $812.46
  • 10 Week Non-Credit Option $609.35   
  • 10 Week Three-Credit Option $1,218.69

Participants who successfully complete the course can receive a certificate of completion that meets the WI Requirements for teaching online.

MyMobile Theme

Moodle 2.2 has a standard theme designed for smartphones and tablets called the MyMobile Theme.This theme has been tested most thoroughly on IOS devices, including iPhone 3gs, iPhone 4 and iPad. IOS 4+ is highly recommended. Also tested on Android 2.1+. Desktop browser support includes Chrome 10+, safari, Firefox 4+ and Internet Explorer 9.
