Each month we will devote this column in our newsletter to how PODetc Courses help educators meet the standards The International Society of Technology Education has developed National Education Technology Standards.

This month we will be examining the standard Technology Operations & Concepts

PODetc has three courses devoted to helping teachers develop their technical skills.

Our introductory course is Tech Literacy 101: Foundations in Collaborative Tools is taught by Dr. Lovejoy. In this course, participants create their own iGoogle page. They also collaboratively create Google Docs, Google Spreadsheets, Google Presentations and Google Forms. The next time this course will be offered is June 14 - July 9, 2010.

Tech Literacy 102: Building Knowledge Management Systems is taught by Tammy Stephens. In this course, participants learn how to harness the power of the Web to have information you want delivered to you and how to leverage social networks such as Diigo and Twitter to find useful information. This course will be offered June 14 - July 9, 2010 & August 2 -August 27, 2010.

Tech Literacy 103: Utilizing Social Networking Tools in a Leadership Capacity is also taught by Tammy Stephens. The purpose of this course is to help library media specialists, administrators, technology integrators and directors to take on leadership roles and to utilize social tools to help encourage others in their organizations to learn technology. Courses are 1 graduate credit.

The dates of the courses are April 12-May 7.
