Of unjust and immoral death and destruction

The goals in Afghanistan and Iraq have shifted from rooting out terrorists to nation building. The stated goal of the current president is to put the full weight of American foreign policy behind fomenting revolution across the Middle East. He said on May 19, "I want to make it clear that it is a top priority that must be translated into concrete actions, and supported by all of the diplomatic, economic and strategic tools at our disposal. Let me be specific. First, it will be the policy of the United States to promote reform across the region, and to support transitions to democracy." We are no longer at war to stop terrorism on our soil, but rather a quest to use American lives for nation building in the name of self determination.

Self determination and democracy in Islamic countries equates to Sharia Law and Islamic oppression. Even in America's misguided nation building efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is no religious freedom or freedom of speech. Yes, it is in the Constitutions of those nations, but in practice it is ruled by Islamic interpretation. The president said, "Not every country will follow our particular form of representative democracy, and there will be times when our short-term interests don't align perfectly with our long-term vision for the region." No disclaimer is excuse or justification for policies that result in the deaths of American military personnel--our sons and daughters--and at the same time advancing terrorism and Islam.

On March 8, 2005, The Daily Jot reported that the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group with ties to Iran and al Qaeda was working to destabilize the Libyan government. In 2004, the State Department said this group "constitutes the most serious threat against US interests" in Libya. The Libyan rebel leader now supported by America's president was an integral member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and has admitted al Qaeda is part of his new rebel organization.  This week, Admiral Michael Mullen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told AFP, al Qaeda in Yemen has "grown into a very virulent deadly federated point" because of the destabilization efforts in Yemen, which are supported, even engineered, by the White House.

America now has wars it is supporting in Afghanistan, Iraq, Tunisia, Yemen, and Libya. America instigated and supported a coup in Egypt. In all these places, Muslim Brotherhood radicals, al Qaeda and other terrorist groups, are in position to take power. In the name of democracy, the finest America has to offer will be sacrificed so that evil can spread like a plague upon the region. In the 1960s American youth were willing to riot against war. Where are the protesters today? Certainly, this policy and these wars are far more unjust and immoral than a war against communism. Psalm 43:1 says, "Judge me O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man." I grieve in what we allow.
