Greetings!
The impact of being a Big Brother or Big Sister comes from many little moments spent doing things together. Starting this month, we're publishing a collection of some of those stories that we're calling "The Bigs and Little Digest." We hope this will give you insight into the backbone of our programs. Enjoy, be inspired, and share your story! |

The Bigs and Littles Digest
The following are stories of some of the recent adventures of our Bigs and Littles that they've shared with us. We invite all mentors to share a story (and photos!) for future newsletters by contacting your mentor manager, sending an email to Carolyn, or by posting it on our Facebook page. Enjoy!
~ Big Brother Brian and Little Brother Davien spent two hours at the Interactive Museum in Middletown making new discoveries together!
~ Big Brother Scot and Little Brother Kevin had an awesome time at Orange County Park snowtubing in January!
~ Big Brother Michael is one of his Little Brother Juan's biggest fans! He attends Juan's baseball games together with mom and Juan's younger brother offering support and a "cheering" section which makes Juan feel like he's a pro!
~ Big Sister Nichole and Little Sister Monica attended a baseball game at Delano Hitch stadium in Newburgh and had a great time, even though the batter got hit by the pitcher with a stray ball. Monica, who didn't know much about the sport, was very enthusiastic about the game, and she was glad to have Nichole there to share knowledge of the sport. ~ Big Sister Kara and Little Sister Keyona like to share their creativity through drawing, painting, and most recently by building a tomato garden. ~ Big Brother Jon recently became an MVP for Little Brother Mike and his entire Little League team who couldn't play because an issue having to do with uniforms. Thanks to Jon's help, the team is now uniformed and free to hit as many home runs as they can! Mentoring is about the little things - sharing new interests and teaching news skills. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to open up their world to a friend. |
Rent-a-Center
Thank you to the manager, owners and customers of Rent-A-Center in Newburgh for participating in the company's annual Easter Egg promotion in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. At $1 each, those eggs raised over $1,322 for our agency! Rent-A-Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters are partners on a national level, but it still takes the actions of local stores and customers to make this fundraiser happen. Thank you for your generosity!
