Training Departs at AnnaBelle's Pet Station! New Session Starts May 11, 2009.
On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Carol Hein-Creger and Erinn Hadley of the Canine Training Center are offering Puppy, Beginning, and Intermediate level obedience classes along with the fun and entertaining Tricks and Treats class and Novice/Open Obedience. Canine Training Center Classes and Info.
Dawn Pizzoferrato, ABCDT, of Pizzoferrato Training Center and Pet Care Services (PPATS) is teaching Doggie Do-Good Beginner classes on Wednesday evening. PPATS Classes and Info.
Mary Darling, our show dog specialist, offers drop-in conformation classes on Monday evening. Mary Darling Classes and Info.

ICACS Presents 30 Hour Adoptathon!
This event is hosted by the Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter (ICACS) and 5/3 Bank. The adoptathon starts on May 16 at 10:00 a.m. and goes STRAIGHT THROUGH to Sunday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. ICACS is offering:
- Reduced Microchip Insertions
- Other reduced vaccinations available for low income pet owners
- Free Rabies Vaccinations: SAT: Noon to 6 p.m. and SUN: Noon to 3 p.m.

Training Tip for Puppies

The
best advice I have ever given puppy owners is to get a newspaper and
roll it up very tight. Secure it with a rubber band and leave it on
the coffee table. Then, when the puppy piddles in the house, chews up
a slipper, or does anything he's not supposed to do, simply take the
newspaper and bang it on the top of YOUR head very hard while repeating...

Dogs Are Stress-busters!
 Dog Owners Lead Healthier Lives
As we've talked about before, Pet Ownership is Good For Your Health.Research shows that dog ownership has more health benefits than cats. In particular, dogs help alleviate stress:

possible that dogs can directly promote our well-being by buffering us
from stress, one of the major risk factors associated with ill-health.
The ownership of a dog can also lead to increases in physical activity

AnnaBelle's First Pet Star!
"Hi! I'm George
Bailey Hausermann, but people call me Bailey. I'm a Chocolate Lab and
my vet says I should probably lose a few pounds that I put on this
winter, but I do so love to eat. Eat, eat, eat. Dog food and dog treats
are what my mom and dad feed me but I like to eat anything really. Like
the outside of a tennis ball. It's my FAVORITE. I like swimming too. See
that big old blue plastic thing behind me? Well, that was my swimming
pool last year. My mom and dad said I need a new one because I like to
tear the edges off and then race through my backyard with pieces of it
in my mouth while my mom and dad chase me! I think that's my FAVORITE.
My mom and dad said I need to learn more manners because I like to kiss
people and hug them just like my mom and dad do to me (well, maybe I'm
a little more slobbery), but sometimes I knock people over because I'm
SO excited to see them and I hear that's bad manners. It makes me sad
for like a second! I'm gonna go to AnnaBelle's and get some manners!
I'm pretty sure that will be my FAVORITE. Come see me at AnnaBelle's sometime!"
