Andy Walks With Me
A blessed Advent to each and everyone within hailing distance of our Communique!
The old standard hymn "In the Garden" reflects the story of Mary Magdalene's encounter with Jesus on Easter morning. The refrain begins, "And.......He walks, with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own..." In a congregation with many first generation English speakers, more than once I've had to face the question, "Who is this Andy, who walks with us and talks with us?"
Advent provides an appropriate answer. Every year Advent is initiated with a saints' day on November 30. That saint is Andrew, the brother of Peter. Andrew is, from our biblical description, a yentl. He's not the center of attention. He's somewhere else. Andrew is around the edges of the crowd. He's the introducer, the kind of guy who puts people together, the kind of person who gives off a reflected radiance, whom you seek because of his connection to the source of his own power and strength.

Mission Society Advent Appeal

"Now is THE RIGHT TIME to send a gift of holiday love to the Atlantic District Mission Society. We're all challenged in these difficult times, but out there in the neighborhoods of our missionaries and parishes, TODAY is the right time for someone to hear and see the love of Jesus. Your gift can assist in bringing that miracle of faith to pass."

An Invitation to Join the District's "Stop, Drop & Pray" Team
|
"We do not make requests from you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act!" Daniel 9:18-19
Do you believe in God's power through prayer to dramatically increase the effectiveness of our mission and kingdom work? Are you a member of the Atlantic District Mission Society's "Stop, drop and pray" network? If not, I invite you to join our prayer team today in seeking out God's blessing and provision for all our outreach efforts. We seek to faithfully partner with the Lord in the essential work of extending the kingdom of God on earth. To enroll, simply contact me at carol.mittelstaedt@ad-lcms.org or call me at 914-337-5700, ext. 6.
When you join "Stop, drop and pray," you'll receive a free weekly E-Letter reminding you to stop what you are doing and take time out to pray for specific mission projects and events throughout the District. As you read through the weekly prayers you will add your voice to others asking God's help for our missionaries and church members so that they may Engage the World with the Gospel of Hope and bring the knowledge and love of Christ Jesus to the unchurched in their communities.
We would love to pray for your special project, too! If your congregation is engaged in an outreach initiative or has a special event planned, please let me know so that I can add it to our prayers.
Blessings!
