Letter from the President
|
The altitude of your attitude is equal to the
latitude of your gratitude. Somebody
famous came up with that equation - I just can't remember who it was! But it's true, isn't it?
Listen to these words from Paul's first letter
to the fledgling Christians in Thessalonica.
First Thessalonians is the initial written document in the New Testament
dating back to around 55 A.D. "We always
thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers."

"Look to the Hills...God Reigns" - Portland Convention, June 25-28, 2009
LOOK! Look at
the many blessings God showers on you daily.
Now's the time to prepare to be showered with His love (and possibly a
few drops of rain) at the LWML convention in Portland, June 25-28, 2009. The theme, "Look to the Hills...God Reigns," is
based on our two theme verses:
Psalm 121:1-2 (NIV) I lift my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help
comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Isaiah 52:7 (NIV) How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good
news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation who
say to Zion,
"Your God reigns!"
All those showers help Portland's beautiful public gardens that
invite you to wander their pathways and enjoy the wonders of our Lord's
creation. The International Rose
Test Garden
hosts 7,000 rose plants of 550 varieties for your enjoyment. On clear days you will be able to see the
Cascade Mountains and Mount Hood.
Mark your calendar now and watch for complete
information and registration forms in the winter issue of the Lutheran
Woman's Quarterly. The Day Tours brochure will be sent directly
to each primary registrant from the Sioux Falls Convention and will
also be
available on the Web site. Your LWML
district president will also have this information.
You won't want to
miss the many outstanding
attractions that the Portland
area has to offer! Visit www.lwml.org for more information.
SAVE ANOTHER DATE!The annual
AD LWML retreat will be held October 16-18, 2009 at Tuscarora
Inn & Conference Center, Mt.
Bethel, PA. Rev. William F. Wrede, Senior Pastoral
Counselor for the AD LWML will be the retreat leader.

Christmas Gifts
|
Advent and Christmas
services remind us to prepare for and to celebrate God's greatest gift to us -
The Christ Child!
God continually blesses us with
many other gifts. The church
professionals called to our congregations and schools work especially hard
during the Advent/Christmas season.
Please take a moment to express your appreciation to them and to pray
for these special servants.
May God richly bless your
Advent/Christmas worship!
