Letter from the President
When I first heard it on the radio, my ears couldn't take it in, so they removed some zeroes.  The Big Bailout, my ears told me, was $700,000,000.  "Wow," I thought, "that's a lot of debt to take on."  Then, ten minutes later, the story was repeated.  And the zeroes made their way through my cortex.  $700,000,000,000!!!  That's more than even Bill Gates has in the bank.  Click here to read more.

Witness in the Public Square
Dear Friends,

Since 2002, subsequent to the events of September 11 and my opportunity to bring public witness at Yankee Stadium on September 23, 2001, I have been honored to host the Witness in the Public Square Luncheon, recognizing those who have made an outstanding contribution to missions and exhibited their faith in the public arena.  This year I am delighted to announce we will be honoring the following individuals:

I cordially invite you attend this luncheon recognizing their leadership. The proceeds will benefit the Atlantic District Mission Society of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and will be held:

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Mission Grants update

This past month we were able to send $5,000 to Lutheran Blind Mission.  This grant was approved at the 2006-2008 biennium, but they were not able to implement opening a new outreach center in NYC before the end of the biennium.  Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bayside has agreed to open an LBM outreach center.  We rejoice that we are able to partner with this ministry.

We continue to work on funding Mission Grant #6, Seminary Tuition - $5,000.  We need approximately $4,000 to fund this grant.

Please continue to send mite money to Virginia Wirsing, Financial Secretary, 4 Garden Lane, Yaphank, NY 11980.
