Mission Grants Update

We thank all those who so faithfully give to mites.  We have received the funds for Mission Grant #4, Bible Clubs for Kids ($4,000) and for Mission Grant #5, Bibles for Atlantic District Prisons ($2,500).  God is good - all the time.

We will now be working on funding for Mission Grant #6, Seminary Tuition - $5,000
This grant would help to pay part of the tuition for a Vicar in the DELTO Program and thus leading to ordination as an LCMS pastor.  St. Timothy in Hyde Park is currently vacant of a pastor.  They recently made arrangements for a Vicar (DELTO pastoral candidate) to serve while taking distance learning courses at seminary (sponsored by Nancy Graf Peters, LWML member).   Please continue to send mite money to Virginia Wirsing, Financial Secretary, 4 Garden Lane, Yaphank, NY 11980.

SAVE THE DATE - SAVE THE DATE - SAVE THE DATE - SAVE THE DATE

Hey Ladies!  It's that time of year again.  Time to start planning on attending the Atlantic District Lutheran Women's Missionary League annual retreat at Tuscarora in Mt. Bethel, Pennsylvania.  The retreat this year will be October 10th - 12th.  Our speaker is Linda Reiser, the immediate past president of LWML.  Registration begins on September 1st.  You can visit our AD LWML website at: www.adlwml.org for a registration form.  You can also contact your zone president, or you can call Deb Graybosch, AD LWML Vice President for Spiritual Life at 631.334.8975.  You may also e-mail dgraybosch@optonline.net for more information.  So pile everyone into your cars and vans and plan on joining your sisters in Christ for a fun-filled, Spirit-led weekend!
"Look to the Hills - God Reigns" - Portland Convention 2009

Plan now to attend the LWML 33rd Biennial Convention in beautiful Portland, Oregon, where the host committee will roll out the purple carpet just for you! Set aside June 25-28, 2009, to join your LWML sisters in Christ to "Look to the Hills - God Reigns." What better place than Mt. Hood and its scenic surroundings to reflect on God's creation and the assurances we read in Psalm 121:1-2, "I lift my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Begin making plans, reserve the date and encourage other LWML/LCMS women (men and families are welcome, too) to journey with you to the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  There is more information to come!  Visit www.lwml.org for details about the convention and the post-convention cruise to Alaska offered by Azumano Travel of Portland.  Cabins are limited-book your reservations now!

Concordia Open Golf Tournament to Support Concordia College Scholarship Fund
The ninth annual Concordia Open Golf Tournament has been set for September 6th at Western Turnpike Golf Course in Guilderland (Albany).  Over the past eight years, this day has provided great days of golf and fellowship, and more importantly, has raised over $125,000 in scholarship funds.  Please consider the following:

Signing up yourself or a foursome for golf.  The cost is $140 per individual or $500 per foursome.  Registration includes greens fee and cart, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a gift bag.

Support the event through a sponsorship.  The event provides an ideal advertising venue for congregations, business, or vendors.  Sponsors are well recognized and publicized throughout the event.  Prices range from $150 to $2000.

Contact Concordia College at (800) YES-ALUM or alumni@concordia-ny.edu for registration forms and more information.

With your help and God's blessings, we'll make another significant contribution to help support deserving students seeking a Lutheran college education.
