Greetings Families Forward Volunteer!
With summer literally around the corner, we wanted to give you a snapshot of a number of great things that have been going on at Families Forward over the last few months! Our staff, Board and volunteers have been VERY busy helping to forward our mission: helping families in need achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through housing, counseling, education, and other support services. THANK YOU for your continued support, as the need in our community continues to be great.

Back to School - Coming in July!!
Students Need Your Help!!
Mark your calendars to be part of our Back to School Program starting in July! Last year, with the generosity of our community, over 1,000 low-income students received new school supplies and backpacks as they began the upcoming school year.
We welcome your support by donating needed school supplies and backpacks to Families Forward. Please visit our website for more information!
Donations are encouraged to be delivered by Friday July 22, 2011 and will continue to be accepted into August.

Summer Food Drive Event - Saturday 7/23
Hunger does NOT go on Vacation!!
Summertime is traditionally a time in which most food banks struggle to serve people in need because food donations drop low - and Families Forward is no different! On Saturday, July 23rd Families Forward will conduct its 4th Annual Summer Food Drive Event!
We are inviting community groups, businesses, faith communities, youth groups, families and individuals to participate in raising food at local grocery stores on that day. This drive has made a HUGE IMPACT on our ability to give out needed food to families during the summer season! Even with our spring food drive being so successful, we continue to serve 100+ families a week and need help in keeping the shelves filled!

Ingram Micro Donates $25,000
Ingram Micro Inc., headquartered in Santa Ana, showed its support for Families Forward, the community and military veterans by presenting $150,000 to 6 local charities at its 18th Annual West Coast Charity Golf Tournament, held on Saturday, May 21 at the Tustin Ranch Golf Course.
We are grateful to the employees and vendors of Ingram Micro for their $25,000 donation that will enable us to continue to provide housing and vital services to families that are in need within South Orange County.

Introducing Our New Staff Member at Families Forward!
Audrey Schneider- Controller
Audrey joined Families Forward as the Controller in May. She is a certified public accountant and has over 12 years experience working in the fields of audit and accounting. She has been enthusiastic in getting to know the people and business of Families Forward. A graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, Audrey is also an alumni of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Audrey has two teenage sons and has lived in Orange County for most of her life.
Welcome Audrey- We are lucky to have you join the team!

Walk United 2011 Saturday, June 25th
Time: Registration at 8:00AM
5K Walk in the Stadium begins at 9:00 AM
Location: Angels Stadium of Anaheim
Cost: NORMALLY, $25 for adults and $15 for Youth/Seniors but if you use our registration code you will get the discounted rate of $10.
Come and run/walk with Families Forward staff, volunteers and supporters in an effort to overcome poverty one step at a time.

A Recap on our two Spring Community Wide Food Drive Events
Our two big spring food drive events, held on the weekends of April 30/May 1 and Big Sunday, May 14/15 were a GREAT Success!! The food poured in those weekends. We will be able to serve hundreds of families that will come to us for assistance throughout the summertime!
MANY THANKS TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS AND AGENCIES THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE! We could not do this without you!!!

3rd Annual Community Resource Fair Success!
On May 7th, 55 agencies provided free services to over 750 people at the Community Resource Fair this year!
Many thanks to all who participated and ensured that families in need were able to access important services.
