At the Time of Death: Funeral Ritesled by Dr. Melinda Quivik
Quivik has taught at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia; Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio; Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn;, the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley; and the ACTS lay school of theology in the ELCA Virginia Synod. She has given workshops and lectures on liturgical theology, the liturgical year, life passages, various preaching topics, and aesthetics.
Serving One Another: Ritual of Foot Washing led by Deaconess Louise Williams
Williams is the Executive Director Emeritus of the Lutheran Deaconess Association. She served as the Interim Director for Spiritual Formation at LSTC.
Becoming One: Blessing of Same Sex Unions led by the Rev. Melody Eastman
Eastman is senior pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wheaton. In this workshop, Pastor Eastman talks about the process and influences that brought St. Paul, Wheaton to hold same-gender blessing ceremonies in their church.
Mending Brokenness: Rite of Healing led by the Rev. Erin Bouman and Dr. Deborah Burnet
Bouman is associate pastor at Faith Lutheran Church, Homewood, Ill. She previously served as a teacher with the Lutheran Church in Tanzania and returned to Tanzania during the summer of 2008 to study the role of women and women's ordination in the life of the church. Burnet is Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Singing the Liturgy led by the Rev. Dr. Mark Bangert and Cantor Daniel Schwandt
Bangert is John H. Tietjen Professor Emeritus of Pastoral Ministry: Worship and Church Music. Schwandt serves as cantor to the seminary community at LSTC and to the congregation of Augustana Lutheran Church.
This Far by Faith: Experiencing Multicultural Worship led by the Rev. Dr. Cheryl Stewart Pero
Dr. Pero is the director of the Multicultural Center at LSTC.
The Preacher as Pastor: Perspectives from Joseph Sittler led by members of the Sittler Archive's Committee
The art and craft of preaching was of great importance to Joseph Sittler. Believing that the ordained ones are charged with "keeping The Story alive" from one generation to the next, he was concerned not only with how those ordained ones are prepared for their ministries, but also how they transmit the message.
Thanksgiving for Baptism led by the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Stewart
Stewart is the Gordon A. Braatz Assistant Professor of Worship and Dean of the Chapel at LSTC.
Fees & Alumni Banquet
The general registration fee for two days is $150.00; the single day rate is $80.00. Retirees and recent graduates have a two-day rate of $99.00. Participants may also buy a ticket for the Alumni Banquet for $25 as a part of online registration.
