| | Alex Raabe | It's never too early
When and how do people hear the call to be professional leaders in the church?
During a recent LSTC community dinner, I had the opportunity to get to know one of our first-year M.Div. students. Alex Raabe told me that his undergraduate degree is in theater - the technical side of it rather than acting. Of course I had to ask him how decided to come to seminary.
"When I was in fourth grade, my pastor told me, 'You'd make a good pastor.' That stuck with me and kept coming back to me until I couldn't ignore it," Alex said.
Seminarians from around the country who responded to an Association of Theological Schools survey said that the encouragement they received from a pastor, teacher or friend is one of the top reasons they decided to come to seminary.
What gifts for ministry do you see in people you know? Have you told them of the gifts you see in them? Alex's experience proves that it's never too early to plant that seed.
Please do. Our church and our world need those leaders.
Blessings,
