Delegates who register before Tuesday 31 July will benefit from our reduced earlybird registration fees.
 
We have increased the options for registration this year in repsonse to delegate feedback received.  You are now able to register for the entire Conference, for one day only, or for two days only.  We have also reduced the earlybird registration fee for clinical consultants to £325 for the whole event.

We are delighted to announce that this year's NCRI Cancer Conference has been approved by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians for 24 category 1 (external) CPD credits.

Cancer Research UK Lifetime Achievement Prize winner announced

 

Congratulations to Professor Sir David Lane FRS

 

David LaneCancer Research UK has announced that Professor Sir David Lane FRS has been awarded the 2012 Lifetime Achievement in Cancer Research Prize. The prize ceremony for this award will be held at the NCRI Cancer Conference and will include a special plenary lecture from Professor Lane on Sunday 4 November entitled 'Drugging the undruggable: How to finally tackle Myc, Ras and p53'.

 

Sir David is a world authority on the role and regulation of the p53 tumour suppressor gene in cancer. Read more about Professor Lane here.

Collaboration with the Royal College of Radiologists 

 

RCR Clinical OncologyThis year the programme for Tuesday 6 November has been developed in collaboration with the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) to appeal to clinical and medical oncologists in particular. The RCR have organised two lecture sessions:

The RCR will also host a proffered paper session featuring presentations focusing on radiotherapy and radiobiology, and there will be a dedicated poster area.

Meet the friendly 'dragons'

 

Do you have a research idea or proposal that would benefit from some consumer input? The NCRI's Consumer Liaison Group is offering a Dragon's Den-style consultation with consumers on the evening of Monday 5 November at this year's NCRI Cancer Conference, following a presentation from Cancer Research UK's Kate Law on 'What funders want from patient and public involvement'.

Late breaking abstract submission

Don't miss this opportunity to present your work to the UK cancer research community and beyond. Updates of abstracts presented at other conferences are welcomed, and guidelines are available on our website. All submitted abstracts will be considered for poster presentations and there are a few slots for oral presentation remaining.

 

Detailed abstract submission guidelines are available on the Conference website.

 

Authors will be notified about acceptance of their abstracts before online registration closes on Sunday 30 September.

 

All abstracts accepted for the conference will be published electronically with full open access and can be cited; please see our guidelines for citation.

This year's conference workshops will provide opportunities for debate, interdisciplinary learning and interactive education. They include:

Masterclass on research methods in palliative and end of life care

The NCRI is delighted to announce a Masterclass session on research methods in palliative and end of life care. This free event will take place on Wednesday 7 November from 14:00 to 16:00, after the close of the main NCRI Cancer Conference.
This interactive workshop will focus on the issues around undertaking research in a palliative and end of life care setting and how to address them. It will include a presentation by 2012 NCRI Cancer Conference plenary speaker Dr. Eduardo Bruera (The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas, US) and presentations on the outcomes of MOREcare which has developed best practice guidance for evaluating service delivery models for end of life care.

The agenda for the Masterclass is under development and more information will follow. In the meantime, if you would like to register your interest in attending this meeting please email Karen Groot.
