This Advent season finds me weary and oh, so in need of a Savior! It has been a year of pouring out and I am empty and filled with longing...just the right position to be in to receive and welcome the coming Savior.

 

No one expected the Messiah would come as a baby. They were looking for a King. They expected a leader who would overthrow the rule of Rome and bring peace and prosperity. Yet, He came, not in power, not with an army, but quietly, unseen, hidden in the womb of a peasant girl named Mary.

Baby cribA Modern Christmas Story...

 

A cell phone, a facebook post, technology is helping Presbyterians Pro-Life mobilize ministry to women and babies.
 
It came, not "upon a midnight clear" but it was the early dark of winter and I was anxious to be on my way home. It was not "that glorious song of old" but the ringing of the telephone that changed my plans. I'd like to think there were "angels bending near the earth" and "goodwill to men" (or in this case a woman and a baby) that played out across 2,400 miles. It was one of those wholly undeserved, yet holy moments when you find yourself smack dab in the middle of what God is doing in someone's life.

Pray and give thanks for God's plan of salvation, for Jesus our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
 

 Pray that God will raise new workers and new financial support to further the work of PPL in upholding life from fertilization to natural death.

  

December 18-24 

Read Luke 1:46-56


Pray and rejoice in Mary's faithfulness and obedience as the mother of our Lord.

  Pray for the women this week who will learn they are pregnant; that they will be filled with joy and

 

anticipation for the life they carry.

  

December 25-31

 Luke 1:67-2:21 

 Pray and give thanks for our sovereign God, Lord of history, and the One whose purposes find their fulfillment in His Son.

 

 

Pray that as we remember that God sent his Son, Jesus Christ to enter humanity as a weak and helpless embryo, we will not forget that unborn babies need our nurture and protection.


 

 

May the Christ who came so long ago fill your heart with the wonder and joy of his coming, Emmanuel, God with us!
