 Has the Christian church historically been confused about the fact that human life begins at fertilization? Nancy Pelosi says yes, but she would be wrong.

Was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi correct (regarding the issue of when life begins) when she recently said "over the centuries, the Doctors (those theologians who established the doctrines) of the church have not been able to make that definition. St. Augustine said at three months;" and then she went on to say that "it's only been about 50 years that the church has understood life to begin at conception?"
Pelosi's few words could not have contained more falsehoods... In saying that my namesake, St. Augustine, said "three months" she made an historical error involving the greatest theologian of Christianity's first 1,000 years.

Once again presbyteries will vote on Amendment B
In the next few months each of the 173 presbyteries in the PC(USA) will be voting on whether to substitute new language for the section of the Book of Order G-6.0106b. At question is whether or not the PC(USA) will hold to it's constitutional standard that only those who practice fidelity in marriage between one man and one woman and chastity in singleness are to be ordained as deacons, elders, and pastors.
Presbyterians Pro-Life is convinced that a return to the Biblical teaching concerning the sacred value of the family is essential to recovering respect for the sacred value of individual human lives. God has ordained the family, the basic social unit of all human institutions, to propagate, protect, and nurture human life (See Statement of Purpose).
