Diablo FC coaches play in Chavez Cup this Sunday @ Tesoro
Referees needed for 8v8 games in fund raising tournament
For all the players (and parents) in Diablo FC who have wondered just how their coach would do when they play soccer can find out this Sunday!
The City of Concord and Tesoro Refinery are hosting the first Michael Chavez Center Concord Cup this Sunday on the Tesoro Fields. Director of Coaching Brian Voltattorni has lined up a Diablo FC coaches team to compete against 7 other adult teams.
The Chavez Cup is a fund raiser for the Michael Chavez Center for Economic Opportunity, a non-profit job training facility for low income clientele in Concord's Monument Corridor. The center is named after the late Concord City Councilman.
Chavez Center, Concord Honda and Concord Toyota are the opponents for the Diablo FC coaches with games at 10 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 2:30 Sunday. The other half of the bracket includes Dolan's Lumber, Concord Police, Las Montanas and Liga Latina.
The two bracket winners will play for the Chavez Cup championship at 4:30 Sunday.
The tournament format is 8v8 with 20-minute halves (we'll see what kind of shape our coaches are in!!!).
Diablo FC Board member Gene Dolan is also on the Chavez Center board and helping organize the event. He is still looking for referees for Sunday. Call Gene at (925) 260-5320 if you can referee at the cup.
Come out to Tesoro on Sunday and root on your coaches!
