You can help Save High School Sports this Sunday
Diablo FC is very proud to once again be a major sponsor and supporter of the United Mt. Diablo Athletic Foundation 5K Run/Walk. The third annual event is this Sunday morning at Newhall Park in Concord. First run starts at 9 a.m.
UMDAF is the volunteer organization formed in 2009 to keep high school sports alive at Clayton Valley, College Park, Concord, Mt. Diablo, Northgate and Ygnacio Valley high schools after the Mt. Diablo Unified School district ended funding for athletics.
Our club is not only providing volunteers and equipment for the event but also encouraging participation in the 5K run or walk to raise funds and awareness of this important cause to support the youth of our community.
If you would like to take part this weekend for the run, walk or kiddie events visit the UMDAF website and register today.
We can still use volunteers too. Please email Diablo FC volunteer coordinator Josefa Bandayrel if you would like to help out Sunday.
Diablo FC will have a booth at Newhall Park so please stop by and say hi. We'll have club pins and window stickers to give you!
Our club is also a proud co-founder and host of the Concord Cup soccer tournament each May. Proceeds from this year's Concord Cup XVIII enabled the Concord Cup committee to present $1000 checks to each of the boys and girls soccer teams at the four Concord high schools--Clayton Valley, Concord, Mt. Diablo and Ygnacio Valley--to help fund their 2011-2012 programs. |
