| Letter from the President concerning Benefit Golf Tournament
All Diablo FC Families,
Your club board, along with many other volunteer parents like yourself, puts a great deal of time and effort into finding ways to keep club fees for the outstanding competitive soccer program we offer to your children as reasonable as possible. Some of the ways we do this are by soliciting corporate sponsors and hosting six soccer tournaments each year. While these efforts help offset the cost of operating the club (nearly $1 million), it is not enough. In addition to those efforts we host two major fundraisers, the Benefit Golf Tournament in the fall and a Crab Feed in the winter. Without the combined success of these two annual events the cost for each player to participate in the club would have to be increased significantly (as much as $100 per child). We established these several years ago as key fundraisers but also as events that segments of our club membership could enjoy on a social basis. So I am writing today to encourage each of you to support and participate in the upcoming Diablo FC Benefit Golf Tournament on Oct. 9. Every team was informed of this fundraiser before and during club registration meetings at El Dorado School last spring. We have been reaching out to every team for several weeks now to make sure each team is fulfilling its obligation.
Part of that is to be represented by a foursome of golfers playing in the tournament. This does not mean it has to be parents on the team. I'm sure that every team has parents who know golfers who enjoy participating in these events. Our tournament (this will be the 9th) is a fun day of food, beverages, raffle prizes and, of course, golf. We hold the tournament at Diablo Creek Golf Course to keep it local, inexpensive and to support our major supplier of fields, the city of Concord.
Please talk to your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers and ask them to join in the fun and support your kids in Diablo FC. The tournament is less than two weeks away and most of our teams have not met their commitment by submitting the names and payment for the four golfers playing for your team. Your team also needs to donate a raffle prize or gift basket that will be used for the raffle. It is extremely important that you talk to your team manager and help them make this happen. All teams must have their team foursome and raffle prize turned in by this Thursday, Oct. 1. The success of this fundraiser---and thus our ability to keep your fees as reasonable as possible---depends entirely on our teams. Please contact your team manager today and tell them how you can help. Thank you for your continued support of Diablo FC. Yours in Soccer, Dan Olavarri President, Diablo FC
