Important notices from Diablo FC to our members

With the start of fall league several matters have come to the attention of the Diablo FC board and staff which we want to make our members aware of:
  • There have been some field and game scheduling changes. We encourage everyone to check with your coach or manager and also the club website where we have links to each league's websites to confirm you have the correct time, day and location of your games. This should be done every Thursday or Friday to verify there have been no changes.
  • Referees are also encouraged to check RefScheduler to make sure assignments they signed up for weeks ago have not changed.
  • Several parents have received notices from their schools or via email about the sighting of suspicious individuals around their schools and neighborhoods. This is just a reminder that parents should drop their child off for practice (and games) with a coach present and pick up from the coach (or another designated adult associated with the team).
  • MDSA reports that a rattlesnake was spotted in the restroom at Boatwright Fields and on a field at Clayton Community Park (where we do not train). Be aware that the "snake season" generally runs through the end of October.
  • Coach, player and spectator behavior: Our club stresses participating in each of our leagues with the highest degree of sportsmanship. We are a competitive youth soccer club but that doesn't mean we tolerate inappropriate behavior of any type towards referees, other players, coaches or spectators. Our board of directors reviews any red card issued to a member of our club and may impose additional sanctions to those administered by the league.
It would be beneficial for coaches and team officials, players and parents to read the club's code of conduct as it relates to them. Please enjoy your soccer experience and make sure those around you and on opposing teams do as well.
  • Tesoro Fields: Under no circumstances is ANYONE to RETRIEVE BALLS that go over the FENCE at Tesoro Fields. If balls go over you may ask the guard in the guard station leading into the refinery to get them for you. If their schedule allows, they will do this (I would suggest waiting until the end of training or a game to make your single request). The property over the fence behind the goals is governed by Homeland Security and there is a zero tolerance policy for any adult or child going onto the property for any reason. We jeopardize our use of these (free) fields by violating our gracious landlord's rules.
