Our first home tournament of the 2009-2010 season takes place this Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26, at four fields in Concord. The seventh annual Diablo FC Summer Classic features 64 teams in the U12 through U15 age groups, including 7 boys and 8 girls teams from our club.
Tournament director Gina Paff and her committee have been working hard to make this an enjoyable weekend for all participants--over 1100 players plus coaches, referees and families will be taking part.
While the Summer Classic takes place here in Concord, 4 of our teams will be venturing to major tournaments elsewhere.
The U14 boys Diablo FC 95, State Cup runnersup this year and US Club Soccer regional champs in 2008, are in the year's #1 tournament, Surf Cup in San Diego, surf cupwhich runs Saturday through Monday. Coach John Badger's boys are one of 16 teams from Southern and Northern California, Colorado, Washington, Utah and Georgia in the age group.
The Diablo FC 92, 93 and 94 girls teams will take part in the Pleasanton Rage College Showcase this weekend. The lineup of teams in their age groups includes top squads from Colorado, Washington, Hawaii, Oregon, Alaska, Utah, Nevada and Southern California.

We want to keep up with the social networking society we're in, so Diablo FC has started a group on Facebook. We invite players, parents, family members young and old, coaches and friends to sign up where you can post pictures and comments, connect with friends and find out more about our club.
Families and alumni from our two former clubs, DVSC and MDSL, are also signing up. We posted the group last week and we're fast approaching our first 100 members.
Store adds polo shirts, Nike hats to inventory

The Diablo FC Store has added men's and women's Port Authority polo shirts in black or white. In addition, Nike Diablo FC FitDry Hats
in black and white (with blue and white embroidery) are also on sale now.
The store is open 24 hours a day online and will also be setup at Newhall Park in Concord this weekend during the Summer Classic.
Team Fund raisers...check them out 
Diablo FC teams are having fund raising projects to finance their activities. Please visit the club website (on the bottom right side of the homepage) to see what our teams are offering.
If your team has a fund raiser scheduled please send an email to the Update at least 2 weeks in advance with all the details.
U18 girls win Turlock tournament in 100+ degree heat
Coach Megan Swann's Diablo FC 91 girls won the championship of the Turlock Mid Summer Classic by scoring a golden goal in the final minute of overtime in the championship game ending a weekend of play in temperatures reaching 110 degrees.
Diablo FC teams have been busy this month both in tournaments and finishing up NorCal Premier Spring League. 
The Diablo FC 99 boys of coach Steve Shott took second place in the Elk Grove Everton Tournament, the same place Richard Weiszmann's 92 girls finished in the Davis Legacy College Showcase.
The Diablo FC 95 boys lost a heartbreaker last Sunday to the #2 ranked U13 team in America, Milan FC Hilmar, 1-0 in the NorCal Spring League championship game. Coach John Badger's team dominated play and had a near goal headed out of the net by Milan.
