PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING A COPY OF YOUR PASSPORT!!

In the past many of our new members forgot to bring a copy of their passport and their application was not able to be completed.  We don't have access to a photocopy machine, so please don't forget.

Please Read Carefully

Follow these steps to apply for membership in Flotilla 5-10:

Step 1. Please complete the following:

1) Complete the membership application.  This link will get you the application please print this out single sided in black and white:

2) Download the New Member Course Study Guide and the New Member Reference Guide.  These guides will tell you quite a bit about the Auxiliary and will help you get through the New Members Course in the next section.  Tip:  Leave them open in PDF format and search them for answers when you do the test in the next section.

Note there are a lot of questions on uniforms in the study guide, even though you may want to hold off on buying a uniform the Aux still needs you to know the basics.

3) Log in and complete the "New Members Course" on-line.  Make sure you print out the page that says you've completed the course.

To do this you need to set up an account on eLearn, there are directions in the opening page. Once you confirm the account (via an email message which will be sent to you) you will have access to eLearn and to the New Member course. No special password is required to access the course (but you will need to set up a password in the registration process)

eLearn sign-up:     http**://64.207.134.26/usr/moodle2/login

(remove the ** in the address above, the program I am using will not let me send a numeric internet address, because spammers use them)   Alternatively do a google search for  "uscg auxiliary e-learning portal" and it will be the first return in the list.

Step 2. Please bring the following to Louis Nock, who will check it for completeness:
1) Your Completed Application
2) Your Passport (if you don't have a passport then see the application
Section IX-B for other acceptable proof of citizenship)
3) A copy of your Passport or proof of citizenship.
4) Confirmation that you have completed the New Member Course
5) When complete we will hold this info for you.

Step 3. Fingerprinting and photo.   We will need to schedule fingerprinting and photos for you.   We are going to do this during one of our normal classes or during a division meeting on the first Monday of the month.  We need to schedule 5 or more people at a time to make it worthwhile for the special "finger print technician" to come and visit us.

Non US Citizens

IF YOU ARE NOT A US CITIZEN, DON'T PANIC.  We are going to make you Associate Members of the Auxiliary and here is the paperwork for you to fill out.

Go to this address:

http://www.cgauxa.org/media/cgauxa-assocmbrapp.pdf

Download the form, fill it out, copy the form, and bring it in to me.  We will mail the original and keep the copy for our records.  This will prove that you have joined as an associate member.   Join as a $25 dollar member.

As an Associate you can't buy a uniform, which for the three of you I've spoken too is not an issue.  You can participate in all of our non-uniformed activities and will be just as much of a part of the flotilla as our regular members.

As you don't have to take the test like the others you may leave before the test.

Enter the building by the guard shack on the left hand (east) side.   If the guard challenges you just tell him you are here for an Auxiliary meeting.  Our conference room is up one flight of stairs.

The nearest subways are the 1 at South Ferry and the 4,5 at Bowling Green.   The MIO offices are just west of the Staten Island Ferry terminal.
