NPR's Juan Williams Addresses 2009 Graduates of Stevenson University
Juan Williams

"What do good graduation speeches and good biscuits have in common?" asked NPR's Juan Williams, addressing the Class of 2009 at Stevenson University on Friday, May 15, 2009. "They're both better with a little shortening."

The journalist, Emmy-winning documentary writer, and political observer delivered the keynote address at Stevenson University's 2009 commencement ceremonies. Williams received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University.

Stevenson's School of Graduate and Professional Studies Holds First Commencement
Stevenson University's School of Graduate and Professional Studies held its first separate commencement on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the Gymnasium on Stevenson's Greenspring Campus. The keynote speaker was Allen Schiff, forensic accountant and managing member of Schiff & Associates, LLC, a Towson-based business management firm. Schiff is a long-time supporter of the University's Forensic Studies program and serves as a member of the program's Forensic Studies Advisory Committee. Read more.

Stevenson University Names New School of Business and Leadership
Howard Brown School of Business and Leadership
On April 30, Stevenson University announced that its new School of Business and Leadership will be named the Howard S. Brown School of Business and Leadership. The School, located on Stevenson's Owings Mills Campus, is named for Baltimore builder and developer Howard S. Brown. Entrepreneur Steve Forbes, Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, the University's Board Chair Kevin G. Byrnes, and other dignitaries were on hand for the dedication. The School will be referred to as the Brown School of Business and Leadership. Read more.

Stevenson University Nursing Program is Accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission

Stevenson University announces that its nursing program has been accredited by the Board of Commissioners for the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Stevenson received eight years of continuing accreditation, the maximum number of years NLNAC can award and is scheduled for the next evaluation in the fall of 2016.

NLNAC is an accrediting agency for postsecondary and higher degree nursing programs, which accredits "educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality." Read more.

Stevenson Concludes Best Ever Season in NCAA Semifinals
Lacrosse Team
The Mustangs totaled a school record of 17 wins, achieved the school's first-ever No. 1 ranking in any sport and advanced further in the NCAA championship than any team in school history. Read more.

University Announces Winners of The Career Place YouTube Student Video Contest

Stevenson University recently asked its students to take part in its branding campaign by producing YouTube video spots that would capture the essence of why SU is The Career Place, its ongoing campaign theme. The winners are T. Michael Jett, a junior visual communications major residing in Reisterstown, Md., and Jason Matkowski, a sophomore business and finance major from Warminster, Pa. Read more.

Join us for the School of Graduate and Professional Studies' Virtual Information Session.

Cheer on the Baltimore Orioles as they take on the Kansas City Royals.  It's T-shirt Tuesday in the ballpark and upper reserve tickets are available in advance for only $5!  So, grab some friends, or the family, and join us for a ball game.  This event is part of Orientation Adventures, which are sponsored by Student Activities.
