The Stevenson University
accelerated Master's Degree in
Forensic Studies teaches you the knowledge and skills you need to become a forensic specialist.  A forensic specialist is a general term for an individual or expert in a particular field that examines evidence for the purpose of presenting the findings in a court of law.  All students in the Forensic Studies program choose one of five tracks tailored to you career interests:  Accounting, Information Technology, Investigations, Legal, or Interdisciplinary.
The degree can be completed either online or in the classroom.
On-campus classes are offered in the evening, making the degree ideal for the busy working professional.  Courses are offered in accelerated 8-week formats and are taught by faculty with experience in the field.  The School of Graduate and Professional Studies is hosting an information session, "Networking for Knowledge" on October 22 at 6pm. Sara Godbee, School of Business Librarian, recommends "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry, which she describes as "beautiful and heartbreaking.  Mistry gives masterful descriptions of lives and living conditions of ordinary people in urban India in the mid 1970's, and it explores how these people endure and find friendship even though their lives are greatly impacted by the forced sterilization campaigns and the political struggles against Prime Minister Indira Gandhi."

Greetings!

With the start of the academic year, comes lots of activity on campus.  We made the news with Convocation speaker Kimberly Dozier, a journalist from Baltimore who was injured in Iraq in 2007 while she was covering the war.  The story was covered by WJZ-13 and The Baltimore Examiner.  The new School of Business and Leadership is now open for classes.  And also this fall, Stevenson University will hold its very first Graduate School Fair on September 23.

October is bustling with even more events beginning on October 1 with Founders Day and the celebration of 100 Exhibitions in the Art Gallery.  We've also got a fantastic VillaFest planned, October 17-18, that will include the Annual Bull Roast and this year's headliner, Mike Super.  And, finally, there is an opportunity to get involved in a campus-wide service project on October 25.  Come out and join your friends and former faculty.  We look forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day began 18 years ago, and takes place annually on the fourth Saturday of October.  On Saturday,
October 25, 2008, join members of the Stevenson community on this national day to help others.

This year, Stevenson University is working with Youth Dreamers, Inc. to help them reach their goal to create a youth-run youth center in their community.  The Youth Dreamers are a group of students in grades seven through ten who decided that they wanted their voices to be heard.  Their mission is to decrease the negative acts that youth are exposed to after school by creating a safe place for them to go to and belong.  AND, they are ALMOST there!  They need YOU to come out and lend a hand.  Your favorite faculty and staff are joining the effort; check the full list of those who have signed up below.  Transportation and lunch will be provided and all participants are invited to an ice cream social at the Owings Mills campus at 5 P.M.  For more information and to sign up contact Susan Smith at pla-susa@mail.vjc.edu.
