"Insure Your Future!" - A Message from Our PAC Chair

Greetings! ,

Scott Wheeler - Young Agent PAC ChairMy name is Scott Wheeler, and I'm the PAC chairman for the Young Agents Committee. My mission is to spread the word about PAC. Last year, the North Carolina Young Agents led the nation in PAC contributions. At the recent Big "I" National Legislative Conference, we were awarded the first ever "InsurPAC National Championship Award" for our efforts. Thank you to everyone who gave to PAC in 2007! We hope that you and many others will make another contribution this year. Our goal is to lead the nation yet again in contributions to PAC from the Young Agents of North Carolina.

To help explain the importance of giving to PAC, I'm going to borrow a few words from our National Director Don Evans. He says, " If you can simultaneously walk the corridors of Congress and the General Assembly and have the ear of every lawmaker on every the issues near and dear to your heart; and at the same time, stay home and manage your book of business and your agency, then you do not need to give to PAC. Of course, you can't do all that, and you do need to give to PAC!

PAC provides us with a tremendous opportunity to get in front of the people who make decisions that affect our livelihoods and express our view on those matters we deem important. PAC does not buy votes, but it does make it possible for us to communicate our ideas for governing our industry to those who make the laws.

This is an election year! We need to support PAC so we can be heard loudly and clearly in the halls of Congress and the General Assembly. It's important that we contribute all we can so those lawmakers who support our viewpoints are elected. There are several ideas floating around Washington and Raleigh that would make it much harder to serve our insureds, like Optional Federal Charter (OFC), McCarran-Ferguson Antitrust Repeal, listing the recoupment charge on the auto declaration page, and many more.  Click here to view a list of all the legislative issues that could affect the way you do business every day!

Help us make sure the voice of the independent agent is heard loud and clear on the state and national level. "Insure Your Future!" and contribute to PAC today.

Help Build Our Habitat for Humanity House!

Habitat House as of 4-13-08

The IIANC Young Agents need volunteer support to help us build our Habitat for Humanity House in Knightdale, NC. Our goal is to complete construction of the house by August, but this can only be accomplished with the support of volunteers.

You are welcome to bring a spouse, family members or friends with you to volunteer. No experience is necessary to help with construction. This is a great community service day for an agency, company or local independent agent association!

Have You Signed Up to Assist with the National Trusted Choice Big "I" Junior Classic?

Trusted Choice Big I Junior Classic
This summer, IIANC is hosting the National Trusted Choice Big "I" Junior Classic at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst.

Sponsored annually by the Big "I", this premier junior golf tournament will bring nearly 200 of the country's best junior golfers to our state for the weeklong tournament (August 2-7). The tournament is run solely through volunteer support, so we need your help!

The Young Agents are specifically helping with the transportation of players, parents and chaperones during the week. Volunteers are also needed to assist with other tournament duties and functions.
