black & white head shot
Greetings!

Well I have been super busy at work and at home. At home we are redoing our basement and installing air conditioning
(joining the 20th century a little late). Both of these projects involve planning ahead to empty the basement and then empty my office (they need to install the AC tubes through my office). I have sent slides and photos out to be scanned, getting rid of thirteen photo albums and a box of slides. Scanning one whole filing cabinet of work related files and getting rid of all the other things we have held onto that we no longer need! I am using all of my organizing, productivity and efficiency skills at home for a change!

At work I have been quite busy with some great new projects. The most exciting is that I was selected to serve on a panel of organizing experts to help a major manufacturer of organizing products develop a new product. This was super exciting as I got to spend two days with nine experts in my field. I learned some new tricks for organizing paper!

The biggest news is that my business is 10 years old this year! It's hard to believe! We will be doing some celebrating throughout the year.

Tax Time

Taxes don't have to be taxing- if you have a system for organizing your finances throughout the year. Imagine taking only two hours to prepare before filing your 2011 taxes. That's what our clients do.

It's best to have a system so you can file on time. If you have to file for an extension this year, get it wrapped up - and get ahead of next year before it happens again. Why? Returns filed in October are more likely to be audited. Remember these links to get yourself started IRS.gov, & for record keeping information.

Anna is available for last minute help, so if you are stressed about meeting the April 15th deadline for filing, call Anna TODAY!

  • UPCOMING: April is Financial Literacy Month - not exactly organizing per se, but better knowledge of finances helps us know how to organize that part of our lives.
  • The National Association of Professional Organizers has their conference this month - count on me coming back brimming with new ideas! I will have a lot of education and product information for you  when I return. If you see anything here that you want more information on, let me know. Stay tuned!
Now that the snow is gone . . . (not that it was ever here)

It is time to get out your spring clothing and start deciding what you are going to keep and what you are going to move on, what fits and what doesn't, and what needs to be repaired or tailored. Make those decisions and you will be prepared when the beautiful weather hits. It is also the time to start getting those winter clothes dry cleaned and ready for storage. Start with the things that you know you are not going to wear and take it from there. Be optimistic, put away the snow boots and gloves!

Online Banking:
Less Paper and More Organized Finances!

There is something to be said for having all of your financial information in one place. Most banks now offer online banking and it is worth taking the time to set it up.

  • View statements online and cut down on paper piles
  • Pay bills directly to your creditors/vendors- the bank issues the check and mails it, save stamps, envelopes and TIME
  • Schedule re-occuring payments for items like mortgage, condo  fees, and car payments

Not a techie?

Everybody seems to love their gadgets, especially smartphones - but are they good for everybody? Some great reasons to use an old-fashioned Day Planner:

 No scrolling through teeny screens

 No equipment or battery failure

More room for notes before during and after your project

Hard to lose in your car

Remember there are people and techies! Whatever you are, it's ok.

Recent and Ongoing Projects
  • Attic clean out- Locating treasures, unpacking them to show  auctioneers, then we will reorganize the remainder (not much)
  • Paper Project - I have worked with seven different clients in the past couple of weeks dealing solely with paper, implementing some new tricks learned from my expert friends
  • Library- I have been working on a huge library project with all kinds of interesting books
  • Estate - packed and shipped items from an estate in Philadelphia to heirs in California, saved them a trip!
Do you know of someone who needs help with similar projects? Please refer them to Anna!
No matter who you are or what your situation, I am happy to talk to you. It's spring - let's make something happen!

Happy and joyous spring to all,
