Rightsizing vs Downsizing

Your home should fit you like your favorite pair of jeans: Not too tight but certainly not too much room to move around in.
If you have been looking around your home lately and wondering if you should downsize...there may be another option: Rightsizing.
Imagine your home being used room-by-room for the right purpose. For example, your grown son moved out 15 years ago and his room has become a catch-all for clutter. Maybe it's time to have that library you have always wanted, or a crafts room, or a playroom for the grandkids when they visit. Whatever you decide, make sure it enhances your current lifestyle and makes you happy.
A good place to begin rightsizing is the attic followed by the basement and garage. Maybe you will downsize eventually, but for now getting rid of what you no longer use or love will put you that much closer to being able to make a move when the time is right. (If you know someone who needs help rightsizing their home, please have them call me for a Free 30 Minute Consultation. I will be glad to help them. Thanks!)

What to do with Your Unwanted Items????????

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes and More Shoes

This project is ongoing... do you have shoes you no longer wear?
The National Association of Professional Organizers has teamed up with Soles4Souls an amazing charity providing shoes all around the world! They have organized a challenge to see who can collect the most shoes. Sooo...being the competitive person that I am, I need all of you to go through your closets and collect all the shoes you no longer want, condition does not matter. One shoe..no problem, I'll collect that too! Email or call me at 484.432.8692 and we can make arrangements!
To date, I have turned in 318 pairs of shoes! Thanks to all of you who have contributed, special thanks especially to Nancy Loughridge, who rallied the associates of Kohl's in Andorra and Jean Kintish who shared this with friends and family!

Holiday Planning
If you are "making a list and checking it twice," you are on your way to a stress-free holiday season!

Set realistic expectations:
What does your ideal holiday look like?
Think of Thanksgiving and Christmas or Hanukkah.
Will your holiday be formal? festive? casual?
Will you entertain? Attend a lot of parties? Have an open house in your own home?
Is traveling on your holiday wish list? Now is the time to book your flight and hotel.
Will you host out-of-town guests?
Whatever your plans..now is the time to make a master list of everything you need to do as the holidays approach.
Your master list could have categories like food, gifts, household tasks, travel plans, etc. Now break each category down into manageable tasks you can handle week by week ...and prioritize.
- Only you can do it and it must get done
- You would like to do it, but it doesn't have to happen
- You will do it if time allows
Knowing now what you will need to do to have a great holiday season will bring you some calm...let the peace of the season begin with your list!
Look for more holiday information in the next weeks.
