Chaos Eradicated! Aggravation Abolished! Overwhelm Obliterated!
| Greetings!
After my last newsletter ("Finally! It's spring!"), I did hear from a few of you, saying "You call this spring?" That spell of cold weather was a shock, but June is here, and I am loving getting outside and planting. There is something about new growth going on all around the house - and making it happen -that is really rejuvenating, connecting in some way with something bigger.
Another growth area this spring was the NAPO (pro organizers) conference I went to the last week of April, definitely the best one I have ever been to. So many terrific sessions and speakers, so many creative committed people - I have so many more tools in my toolbox than when I went. It is an instant growth experience - and I can't wait to share. Cool Tools!
When you hang out with a few hundred organizers for a week, you're bound to get a few tips. I learned about some great websites like
neatfreak.com - great closet organizing systems and add-ons like sorters, hampers, gament storage, shoe storage, and more.
cardmemories.com - greeting card organizers for the really special ones that we would keep, if we only had a place to put them besides a drawer.
jott.com - has a variety of applications that convert your voice to text, allowing you to get voice mails as email or texts, set reminders and tasks in text using your voice, among others.
collegecaboodle.com - goofy name for what sounds like a good tool for organizing the paper blizzard around college search/application. Disclaimer: will not write the essay!

News:
- We now have the ability to accept credit cards (VISA, MC, Discover) for payments, including gift certificates. If someone you love is in need of help taking that first step towards getting organized, this is the most caring hint you can give them. Turn-around time is about less than 1 week. Garden gear all over the place?
No need to get fancy to get all the tools, pots etc. out of the dirt. Get a sheet of wood or vinyl lattice from a lumber yard or home store and screw it to your garage wall, with 1" - 2" spacers behind. Hang your tools in cloth tool pouches tied to the grid, or in coffee cans with holes punched in them for wire hangers. Small wire shelves can take the larger items like pots and sprays.

(Don't)Wait Til Next Year
Picking out plantings in the early spring is hard if you don't know how much sun an area will get throughout the summer, or what surrounding plants may look like when they come in. Take pictures of different areas at different times over the summer, as the daylight changes. Also keep a file of any pictures or articles on plants you like.

Recent and Ongoing Projects
Closet Project - I designed a custom closet for a client, who had her contractor build it into her bathroom/dressing room addition. She is very visual, needs to be able to see everything, so it was all open cubes, specially sized for her clothes. Garage Project - I worked with an associate and a builder to develop a storage system for a client's garage, turned chaos into an immaculate garage - whatever is left is out of sight, very satisfying. Filing project - A recently retired client needed, and now has, a new filing system for his new life. Clutter Project - Removing clutter never sounds particularly dramatic, but the cumulative effect of living over-cluttered for years is suffocating, and the person is often only half aware of the full effect, because she is accustomed to it. This client now has a new-found freedom, as well as a renewed sense of control over her life.

(cont'd from above) is planting as many native species as possible, bringing it back to its colonial "roots," and I'm discovering a side of me I didn't know was there. Gandhi said "To forget how to dig the earth and tend the soil is to forget ourselves." Whatever we do, let's not forget why we do it - to make our lives richer for the whole-hearted effort.
A bounteous and joy-full summer to all,
