Greetings!

TopofPageFinally! It's spring! This season reminds us that life does give us chances to start fresh.  I don't know about you, but winter does begin to wear on me towards the end - and three foot snow drifts at the end of February do not help! But the days are getting longer, we are seeing the first shoots of green, and the energy is coming back.

This is the last time I'm going to say it . . .

this spring, anyway - yes, I'm nagging about your taxes. If you don't have a clean system for organizing your finances for easy access at tax time, there is no bad time to begin. Divide and conquer: 2009 is one project, 2010 another. If you have to file for an extension this year, get it wrapped up - and get ahead of next year before it happens again. Why? Returns filed in October are more likely to be audited, because there aren't as many at that time. Remember these links to get yourself started IRS.gov, Bankrate.com.

News:
  • We now have the ability to accept credit cards (VISA, MC, Discover) for payments, including gift certificates. If someone you love is in need of help taking that first step towards getting organized, this is the most caring hint you can give them. Turn-around time is about less than 1 week. Buy Gift Certificates Here!
  • We had a very successful Get Organized Event at IKEA in Conshohocken a few weeks ago, in spite of the monsoon weather we had that day. We offered free shredding, and the turn-out was great. I gave a short talk in the kitchen department on...kitchens. Planning a kitchen is one of my personal favorite tasks - the kitchen is the heart of the home, source of nourishment and a center for family activity.
  • April is Financial Literacy Month - not exactly organizing per se, but better knowledge of finances helps us know how to organize that part of our lives.
  • The National Association of Professional Organizers has their conference this month - count on me coming back brimming with new ideas! We are going to Columbus OH, so if you know of any great restaurants and places to visit, let me know. We will have a lot of education and product information for you  when we return.
Now that the snow is gone . . .

It is time to get out your spring clothing and start deciding what you are going to keep and what you are going to move on, what fits and what doesn't, and what needs to be repaired or tailored. Make those decisions and you will be prepared when more beautiful weather hits. It is also the time to start getting those winter clothes dry cleaned and ready for storage. Start with the things that you know you are not going to wear and take it from there. Be optimistic, put away the snow boots and gloves!

Not a techie?

Everybody seems to love their gadgets, especially PDA's - but are they good for everybody? Some great reasons to use an old-fashioned Day Planner:

 No scrolling through teeny screens

 No equipment or battery failure

More room for notes before during and after your project

Very hard to lose in your car

Recent and Ongoing Projects

Photo Project - working with 2 clients sorting through many many boxes of photographs, digitizing the ones we don't throw out, printing the really good ones.
Paper Project - massive filing project, clients have 6  businesses, and a random-style filing system. Sound like fun? I actually love this stuff!
Basement project - clearing a client's basement for a renovation, sorting, throwing out, organizing, with the end design in mind.
Closet Project - designed a closet for maximum storage and easy access, supervised the contractor who is installing as we speak.
Open Air Project - This client had not thrown anything away for a very long time, and was slowly burying herself in her stuff. But she knew to ask for help - there is now daylight in her life, and she is making a new beginning.

which as all of my regular clients know, for me this is not just about organizing - it is about giving people the space to fully live their lives.  No matter who you are or what your situation, I am happy to talk to you. It's spring - let's make something happen!

Happy and joyous spring to all,
