Greetings!
OK - Who out there (besides me) is sick of the snow and cold weather...??? Yuck. Yuck. Yuck!
I'm SO ready for spring, but there is still a lot of winter to go - unfortunately. That's why I thought that a newsletter that relates to "pampering" and "indulgence" was just what the doctor ordered for these mid-winter blahs!!! I've got a couple of delicious drink recipes (perfect for Valentine's Day!), a DIY exfoliating body scrub, updates/goodies for all of my "chocoholics", and a handful of reasons to "LOL" (Laugh Out Loud).
Had a great time at the Chicago market this month... We were "wined & dined" by the vendors, and we "shopped 'till we dropped". It's all good. I have one of my purchases to share with you in this newsletter - and it was a very YUMMY, "star-quality" purchase!! (Curious??See below!) I will share more of my purchases with you next month...
Hugs to you all - Stay safe & stay warm!!!
Cheers!

Good news for chocolate lovers!
Researchers have found that chocolate, the dark variety, is a good food for your brain. Here are the many benefits discovered in studies by universities and scientific organizations:
· Flavanols in cocoa and extra-dark chocolate may enhance blood flow, and improve cognitive health.
· The smell of chocolate may increase theta brain waves, resulting in relaxation.
· A mild mood elevator
· May raise good cholesterol
· Drinking a cup of hot chocolate before meals may actually diminish appetite.
· Men who eat chocolate live a year longer than men who don't.
· The flavanoids in chocolate may help keep blood vessels elastic.
· Chocolate increases antioxidant levels in the blood.
· The carbohydrates in chocolate raise serotonin levels in the brain, resulting in a sense of well-being.
· The cocoa with which chocolate is produced that proves to be an anti-aging health food for both heart health and brain memory.
· Dark chocolate enhances brain focus and concentration.
This is most certainly good news. However, do we really need a reason to eat chocolate? How about the fact that it marries nicely with a little red wine...

"Toffee To Go"
OK - So here is a delicious toffee that I found at the Chicago market - and it just so happens to be one of Colin Cowie's "Fantastic Finds" (You know who he is - "THE Party Planner to the Stars"!!! He's always on Oprah, or the Today Show, Good Morning America... blah, blah, blah) Anyway - Colin not only uses this delicious toffee for parties/events/weddings that he "plans", but he also serves it at his home for dinner parties and orders it for family and friends!!
So - what the heck. I figured, if it's good enough for Colin Cowie's friends, it's good enough for mine!!
You're welcome...
ENJOY!!!!

Pamper Your Soul: Laughter IS The Best Medicine
Laughter is strong medicine for mind and body. It is a powerful antidote to stress, pain and conflict. Laughter triggers healthy changes in your body:
· Physical (boosts immunity, lowers stress hormones, decreases pain, relaxes muscles)
· Mental (eases anxiety and fear, relieves stress, improves mood)
· Emotional (a more positive attitude, an optimistic outlook in difficult situations).
Ways To Put Laughter In Your Life
· Read a funny book
· Watch a funny movie or TV show (Two of my "funny favs" are "Modern Family" and "Ellen")
· Hang out with funny people
· Buy a silly toy for yourself. You are NEVER too old for toys. Just ask my husband and my (grown-up) kids!!
· Read the cartoons in your newspaper
· Share a joke or a funny story with someone everyday
· Live, Love, LAUGH...
Laughter IS contagious. Just hearing laughter primes your brain and readies you to smile and join in on the fun. Pamper your mind, your body, and your soul. Pamper yourself silly. Laughter really IS the best medicine! |
