Greetings!
Happy New Year!!!
Wow.  How the heck did that happen... Where did 2010 go???  It's crazy how fast time seems to fly by, isn't it?! 
So here we are in January - a brand new fresh year ahead of us.  Do you have any big plans for 2011??  I'm hoping to get into drawers, closets, cabinets etc. and start cleaning and clearing out.  It's such a daunting task - but it feels so good to get it done, doesn't it!!  I'm ready.  Well - almost.  First I'm going to head out of town for a little celebration...  My parents celebrated 50 years of marriage, my husband and I are both turning 50, and my kids are both turning 21... and all of those milestones within  about a year.  So we are heading out of town for a week of celebrating.  I'm not too worried though.  I'm fairly certain the dirty closets will still be waiting for me when I return...

in joys I'm receiving a little bit more.

A little more anxious to reach out my hand,

Cosmic Champagne
"Cosmic Champagne"

Chill out! Take the "stuffy" out of your Champagne cocktails with a blast of color that is guaranteed to put the bubbles

back in your bubbly!


Red Velvet Champagne Cocktail
1/2 cup strawberries puree
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp sugar
Champagne
 
Mix strawberry puree and vanilla, lemon juice, and sugar, and puree. Pour into a Champagne flute half-way (more or less to taste). Top with Champagne and stir gently. Slide the remaining strawberry onto edge of the glass. Décor: Half strawberry.

Please note that I will be out of town (celebrating!!) from January 1-9 and will be unable to receive/return emails or phone calls during that time.  Please feel free to leave email messages, and I will do my very best to return them in a timely manner when I return. 

 

Please be patient with my booth spaces at "amaze" and "Trendz" as they are currently rather low on stock. Take note, however, that I have many "oldies, but goodies" on reorder... flour sack towels, Wine-A-Ritas, chip clips, cocktail napkins, cracker trays...  Most of these items should come in while I am gone - so I will do my best to get them into my booths as soon as possible when I return!!

 

As for some new goodies - Please note that I will also be out of town from January 21 - 24 on a buying trip in Chicago to search out all kinds of new goodies for Creations!!  Then (I promise), I'm going to get to that cleaning!!! 

 

2011 store hours-

Now that the 2010 holiday season is behind us, Trendz and amaze will be returning to a Monday-Saturday (10:00 - 6:00) schedule; Trendz is open until 8:00 on Thursday evenings.

 

And speaking of Thursday evenings...  Mark your calendars for a fun and relaxed night out (5-8) at Trendz for "First Thursday" on January 6.  I will actually be out of town - but I trust that you will be there anyway, and fill me in later... See details below.

Oh my - Did I ever receive a lot of requests for the yummy trifle recipe!!  Here is just one of the many emails that I received afterwords...!!!

Avocado-Goat Cheese Salad

with Lime Dressing 

 

Yield: Makes 4 servings

1 1/2 cups matchstick-size strips peeled jicama
1/4 cup avocado oil
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 5-ounce package mixed greens
1 large avocado, peeled, pitted, sliced
1 5-ounce package soft fresh goat cheese, crumbled

 

Toss first 4 ingredients in large bowl. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Add avocado and goat cheese; toss gently. Divide salad among plates.

 

Wine pairing: Serve with a Riesling
