"A Touch of Glass"
Creations Newsletter
Volume 4; Issue 12 |
Greetings!
As crazy as this time of year is - especially for those of us in the retail world - I really do love the ENTIRE holiday season. For me, it actually starts with all of those cute little pumpkins and princesses on Halloween. Then it's on to Thanksgiving - which is extra special to me because it's the only holiday that we spend back in my hometown - St. Louis. Even so, I still love to decorate for Thanksgiving at our house here in Kansas City - and I never start decorating the house for Christmas until the weekend after Thanksgiving when we go get our tree. I have to say, though - the last two years have been challenging with my kids being away at college. I really, really, really miss having them close by. Still adjusting, I guess. Even though they don't get home until a week to ten days before Christmas each year, for me, Christmas REALLY begins the moment they walk through that door... "What is Christmas? It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future. It is a fervent wish that every cup may overflow with blessings rich and eternal, and that every path may lead to peace."
- Agnes M. Pahro So for all of you out there, I raise my glass in a heartfelt toast to you and those you hold dear. May the coming year bring you an abundance of good health, happiness, and more love than your heart can hold. Peace to you, my friends... Cheers! Cathy

Happy Hula-days!!
| | Mulling Spices - $3.75 | Ahhhh... there's nothing like traditions at this time of year! You can probably tell a lot about a family by the traditions that they hold dear...For my family - the Schandlers - it's all about gathering around the TV on Thanksgiving night for a little R & R , and a few laughs. Yep - It's time for our annual dose of "Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation". But for me, it startsway before Thanksgiving. Once the radio stations start playing Christmas music - you know, sometime right around Halloween - I wait for "THE" song. "Mele Kalikimaka". When I hear it for the very first time of the season, I rush to the phone and leave the song on my parent's recorder. Let the season begin. Again... tradition.
So you're probably wondering about the whole cider thing...? Well - this year I brought along some of my Aspen Mulling Spices and we sipped away on hot cider during the movie. Quite delish, actually. After all, it was snowing in St. Louis on Thanksgiving. A "Hawaiian Cocktail" seemed like a stretch. If you rent the movie this season, bring along some paper umbrellas and stick them in your cider. And, of course, wish everyone a Hawaiian Merry Christmas... "Mele Kalikimaka". |

I know that I say this all the time - but I REALLY DO have the best customers... Here's an email that I received over Thanksgiving weekend from a customer after she received my Open House invite... Love her quote at the bottom!
Hi Cathy,
Wish I could make it, but am doing my own Stampin' Up open house/Christmas card make and take on those dates. DRAT!!!
But...I had to tell you...I made the trifle last weekend for my daughter's birthday. I used Snickerdoodle W & W cheese ball mix, and between the layers added hot fudge and pecans as well as the caramel and snickerdoodle mix. Then served it warm. My gosh was it ooey, gooey delightful and a real hit!!!!
Thanks again for the recipe.
Hope your open house/bargain days go wonderfully well.
Hugs,
Sherry Huxtable
