Mosaic 6 plus 6 App platesMosaic 6 plus 6 App platesGreetings!

So here we are. August has arrived, and in two (short) weeks, both kids leave for college.
Many of you have sent me sweet words of care and encouragement. For that, I thank you.  You have no idea how much that means to me...
Several of you also asked to see pics of them "all grown up" - especially after I showed you their baby picture last month when they turned 19.  So... Here they are!  My babies - all grown up!

As sad as I am to see them leave - I am also filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude; on so many levels.  First of all, I am thankful for the incredible gift of motherhood.  It is what I wanted more than anything in life - and I am truly "double blessed".  I am thankful for my wonderful husband (of 25 years!), our families and all of my friends - including all of you!!  I am also so very, very thankful that God planted that little seed in my brain - seven years ago - telling me to start my own business. He knew, way back then, how much I would need "Creations", and all of you, in my life right now!!

So, like it or not, it's time to turn the page and move on.  There are markets to attend, products to get on order, glasses to paint...  After all - this is retail.  I'm only three blinks away from Christmas...!

Cheers!
Cathy

Mosaic 6 plus 6 App plates
This is an order that I did for a customer at Trendz...

For the wording on her appetizer plates she chose:  laugh, eat, drink, party, cheers and friends.  The glasses are the "Mosaic" goblets done as a set of 6.

As pictured:
Appetizer plates (set/6) - $54
"Mosaic" goblets (set/6) - $60

Top Sellers and Tantilizing Trivia at Trendz

For the months of April/May/June, my top five sellers at Trendz were:

1.)   The "Wine-A-Rita" line
(Includes the 'Wine Glace' and "Peach Bellini')
2.)   Cocktail napkins
3.)   The "Stonewall Kitchen" line of gourmet foods
4.)   'Flour Sack' towels
5.)   Party Picks

"Edible items" accounted for 37% of the giftware sales during that first 3 months.

As for Stonewall Kitchen, "crackers" were the top seller - with 'Blue Cheese' coming in first.  'Crackers' were followed by the "Roasted Garlic Onion Jam" and "Hot Pepper Jelly".  The top selling cheeseball was the "Cosmopolitan", and the top dip was the "Bloody Mary" dip.

little of this,
little of that...

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who forwards my newsletter on to "friends and family"  every month - and a special shout out to Barb Fay for forwarding my July newsletter to 5 friends on the very first day!   :)

Was chatting with Sherry Tinkler at our July "First Thursday" party at Trendz, and she shared a cute quote with me that I wanted to pass on...
"Everyone has to believe in something .  I believe I'll have another glass of wine!"

Good summer tip:
For an extra special touch, chill glasses by rinsing them and placing them stem-side up in a freezer for about 15 minutes.  Never place fine crystal in a freezer, however!
Artichoke & Caper Relish

Since the Stonewall Kitchen line is new (for me!), I am still working my way through sampling everything (tough job...)  Let me tell you - this one is just delish!!  The main ingredients are onions, artichokes and capers.
Here's what it says on the jar:
"This sophisticated and versatile relish is wonderful used as a dip or bruschetta topping.  Toss with pasta or use as a topping for baked chicken, fish or pork."
I added it to our steamed aspargus last night for dinner, and that was a good move.  Yum!  But here's an even simpler recipe - Spread it on a good quality bread (like a Ciabetta) and just eat it!  I'm telling you; It's good!
Come on in to Trendz and pick up a jar today!

Hey - What's new???
Funny you should ask...     I was just getting ready to tell you about the "CosmoRitas" that I just got in!!  As Rachel Ray would say - YUMM-O!!!

 And GOOD NEWS...
I will be sampling them
 at the Trendz
"First Thursday"
 on August 6!!
(See invite below!!!)
 $10.95

Wine-A-Rita Cosmo

"One thing they never tell you about child raising is that for the rest of your life, at the drop of a hat, you are expected to know your child's name and how old he or she is."
- Erma Bombeck

Haven't made it to the beach this summer?  Well - we can dream about it instead while sipping an azure cocktail.  Gotta tell you, though - just reading this one made me thirsty...

Blue Ocean Margarita

(Makes 8 servings)
1 c. sugar
3 3/4 c. water
1/2 c. fresh lemon juice
1/2 c. fresh lime juice
Splash fresh orange juice (from 1/2 orange)
1  1/2 c. tequila
3/4 c. Blue Curacao
Lemon slice for garnish, if desired

Combine sugar and water in a pitcher, stirring until sugar is dissolved.  Add citrus juices, tequila and curacao and stir well.  Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve.
At serving time, shake margarita with ice in a martini shaker.  Strain into a margarita or martini glass filled with ice.  Garnish with lemon wheel, if desired.

Defining 'fashionably late'

How should you time your arrival at a party?  According to Domino magazine, "Showing up promptly is all very good for business meetings and job interviews, but at a cocktail party, you don't want to be first - better to get ther 10-15 minutes after the starting time.  At  a larger affair, you can be up to 35 minutes late."  For a dinner party you should never be early or exactly on time either, the magazine says, but don't arrive more than 25 minutes late.
