Champagne
1. Chill all ingredients beforehand
2. Pour the Cointreau and cranberry juice into a chilled champagne flute.
3. Stir well and top with chilled champagne just before serving. |

| "Rustic Raves"
(submitted by Ruth Cousins, a customer at a recent Holiday show! This recipe was "in her head", so just adjust the exact amounts to suit your taste buds!!)
Make a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream. Add enough liquid from a jar of marinated artichoke hearts to make a soft mixture. Press this mixture into a rimmed serving platter. Top with chopped artichoke hearts, coarsly chopped green olives and capers. Cover with plastic wrap and press goodies down into the cream cheese mixture. Serve with assorted crackers.

Greetings!
And so we enter the month of December - a time of short days and long "to do" lists... Most of us are already trying to make the Christmas season a bit simpler this year, and slowing down at this time of year is always a good thing. I am going to share some of the lyrics to a Josh Groban song from his holiday album, "Noel". (Great CD - I highly recommend it!) It is a beautiful song, and I think the words are perfectly timed for this holiday season...

To look around us

The joy that surrounds us

Mistletoe was often hung over the entrances to homes of the pagans in Scandinavian countries to keep out evil spirits. An old Scandinavian myth tells of the seemingly invulnerable god, Balder, who was struck down by a dart made from mistletoe. The tears of his mother, Frigga, became the white berries of the mistletoe, and it was decreed that the plant must never again be used as a weapon.
Frigga, who was the goddess of love, henceforth gave a kiss to anyone who passed under the mistletoe. It may be that our present custom of kissing under the mistletoe derives from this old legend. |
| Candy Cane Cocktail
3/4 oz Berry vodka
3/4 oz peppermint Schnapps
3/4 oz white Creme de Cacao
1/4 oz grenadine
half and half
soda water
1. Pour the vodka, Schnapps, Creme de Cacao and grenadine into a cocktail shaker with ice
2. Shake well
3. Pour into a cocktail glass rimmed with crushed peppermint candy
4. Fill with half and half
5. Top with soda water |
