| Greetings! |
| OK - Last month I told you how thankful I was for all of the women in my life. I must say that I have been equally blessed with all of the men in my life... and therefore, I dedicate this month to all "the boys"... Husbands, sons, fathers, brothers, grandfathers, father-in-laws, brother-in-laws, friends... Love you all!!!
Cheers!
Cathy
Dedicated to my dad & 5 brothers (And, of course, my mom and sister!)
"The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together."

| Father's Day History |
| The idea of celebrating "Father's Day" originated in 1909 in Washington. Sonora Smart got this idea while listening to a Mother's Day sermon. She thought of a special day to honor her father, William Smart.
William Smart was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. William raised all six children by himself. When Sonora grew into an adult, she realized the courage and selflessness shown by her father. Sonora's father was born in June, so she decided to celebrate the first Father's Day celebration on June 19, 1910.
President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. The National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City in 1926. A Joint Resolution of Congress recognized the Father's Day in 1956. Then in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law, which finally made it permanent in 1972. |

Vodka Martini Note: This is the martini that James Bond drinks in the books and films. (Although he drinks it somewhat drier than this - more vodka, less vermouth) |
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 3/4 oz dry vermouth
- 1 olive
Shake the vodka and vermouth together with several ice cubes in a shaker. Strain into a cocktail glass (see above!) and garnish with an olive. |

"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years."

| Baked Brie |
|
OK - Brie cheese pairs so well with such an assortment of varietals that it is definitely worth having at least one good baked Brie recipe up your sleeve! Consider pairing Brie with Champagne, Reisling, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Savignon Blanc.
Ingredients:
- 1 round of Brie cheese
- 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tube of crescent rolls
- 1 egg
Preparation:
First, flatten out the crescent roll dough on a cookie sheet and gently connect the seams by rolling the dough out. Next, spread the brown sugar in the middle of the dough - no wider than the width of the cheese round. Sprinkle the pecans onto the sugar and place the Brie on top of the sugar/pecan mixture. Carefully fold the dough around the entire Brie round. When the Brie is totally enclosed, flatten out the bottom side that will sit on the cookie sheet. Gently flip the Brie so that the sugar/pecan mixture is facing up (beneath the dough) and place it on the cookie sheet. Beat the egg and brush it on the surface of the dough to create a glazed finish. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melting (may need a toothpick poke to verify). Enjoy!!
